Kristine reacted to appamomo in MSW Canadian Applications Fall 2023
I was accepted into York on Friday! Will most likely be declining but their funding package is really generous at 10k. They also have a separate scholarship which I believe is different for each person but for me it was 6k.

Update on my psyche: I had a vivid dream I logged into ACORN and saw the $500 deposit and an acceptance letter lol.

Ok, I heard back. I have been waitlisted. Grrr. wondering how many applicants get rejected vs waitlisted. Does anyone know?

Hey all, I applied to U of T MSW advanced standing. I called the school, and they said decisions will be sent out this week and early next week in the application portal.

I am still on the waitlist for Lakehead, but I think the second wave on the waiting list have been contacted, so I think my chances are slim to none on getting in. Does anyone know how many applicants there are, and how many spots there are? I feel pretty disappointed. Does anyone know if emailing them makes a difference in getting an acceptance?! I read someone said that could work with U of T, but I don't want to be a pain in the ass either.

Hi all,
I heard back from Lakehead Orillia campus a week and a half ago, but not from Thunder Bay (second choice). Has anyone heard from that campus?

Declined my offer for the 1 year HBSW program at Lakehead Orillia today. Hopefully someone on the waitlist will be accepted! Good luck everyone!

Hey, thanks SocialWERK! I am glad my plan makes sense, even though it sounds crazy at the outset to get another degree, but I agree the benefits will be significant even before getting an MSW. It would be with Ryerson part-time so that I can still work full time. I have been working in the field directly after graduating, but this will open up so, so many other opportunities! Question: Do I need to usually have the required number of years experience when I am applying, or is it sufficient to get that number in just before I start the program? 2 years work experience required. Or maybe I should ask Ryerson directly.... Thanks!
