  2. Clinical Psych programs are so so SO competitive. I think the average applicant scores around 1300 combined. If you apply to clinical programs, you definitely need to retake. Your profile is strong, and your research/GPA should absolutely compensate for the GRE score. The problem is that when a program receives 300 applications (which many clinical programs do) they have to eliminate some right off the bat. That initial elimination is usually by GRE score. Sorry to say it , but if you want your application to be seriously looked at by a clinical Adcom, you need to have a higher GRE score (at least 1200-1250).

  5. Your profile is very impressive, congrats on that GRE score! I agree that finding a school that's a good research match is more important than one that's high ranking. I don't think your undergrad GPA is too much of a problem, since it's in a different field, and you post-grad GPA is high. Bottom line: apply to schools where there are faculty you'd like to work with. Don't apply anywhere you don't see yourself attending. Unfortunately, it's going to be a competitive application season. At this point, I don't think there are any "sure things."
  6. I agree with neuropsych76. Any research experience is good. and should be included. Also, don't worry about going over a page on your resume/CV. Make it as long as it needs to be (within reason) to include all of your experience and qualifications.
  7. Yes, you should be fine. I have two letters coming from professors and one from a lecturer (all PhDs).
  8. I looked up some of the schools you're applying to in the APA's Gradstudy book. It looks like average GRE scores hover around 500V/560Q for those schools. So it looks like your quantitative is in good shape, but the verbal is a bit low. If I were you, I would consider retaking it. Maybe contact the schools you're applying to and see if they have specific cut-offs for GRE scores. Some schools will eliminate applicants with any section under 500 without barely looking at their application. Remember, the GRE is just one part of your application, and if the other parts are solid they can make up for a weak GRE. It's great that you have research and work experience, I'm sure that will help your application. How is your GPA? And your letters of rec?
  9. Congratulations on improving your score! Could you clarify if you are applying to Ed.S. or Ph.D. programs in School Psych? Your scores would probably be alright in an EdS application, but they are probably too low for a PhD.
