  1. I have decided to go to HGSE too. Since I prefer a practice-oriented program and most importantly, it is the most affordable too. Is any of you considering to live in Cronkhite?
  2. Just got my acceptance to the International Ed Development program! But I also received $0 scholarship and grant.
  3. No news for me either, except my application also says transcript is missing. I believe we will hear back within this week!
  4. Finally heard from Penn! Got accepted into the IEDP program! Unfortunately they only gave me $5000 scholarship, which makes attending Penn quite difficult..
  5. Yes indeed. Thanks a lot! Have you decided where to go yet?
  6. Accepted IEP. Barely got any sleep...! (I'm in China) Thanks to all of you on this thread who have made this wait much less painful!
  7. I haven't heard back from TC either! (Applied to IED) It's almost 2am in China now and I have to force myself to go to sleep...
  8. Just checked my portal - no change. It still says my application is complete.
  9. I am an internaional applicant too. I submitted my application for IEDP on Jan 23 and it was only ready for review on Feb 11. I emailed the admission office about it and it turned out that they had issues with matching my GRE scores - my name was hyphenated in the GRE report but not in my Penn application... My application became ready for review 2 days after I got the reply from the admission office. Perhaps you should also contact the admission office and see if there's anything wrong with the application?
  10. Congratulations! I just checked my spam mail and realized that I got into the ICE program! Hope good news will keep coming for all of us!
  11. I realized that I just got accepted into the ICE program! The email was in my spam folder... Luckily I checked, thanks to you guys! It was an email directly notifying me of the results, I didn't have to go to the portal and check the results myself.
  12. Congratulations!! That's amazing!! Did they offer you any scholarship? When did you submit your application? I submitted mine on Jan 21... So I guess I have to be really patient! Hope you will get offers from all the programs you've applied to
  13. Yes I am an international applicant. I have no problem with the English proficiency part though - the test scores have been well received. (Actually I also completed my undergrad studies in English... But it is not uncommon among the students in my hometown to take those English proficiency tests, so I just did it anyway.) GRE is the part that I am having trouble with I already emailed them about it, but no reply yet.
  14. I submitted my application for IEDP on Jan 23, and it's not even ready for review yet... Still "materials needed", but I already sent my GRE results to GSE in October. I guess many people submitted their applications in January - the deadline peak for all other international education programs! (at least for those I've applied to)
  15. I don't think it has to be work experience related to international education - at least it doesn't need to be extensive. A HGSE IEP graduate told me that one of his classmates did a World Teach program on a small island, then went on to sell insurance right before going to HGSE. So I believe they are really looking for diversity in candidates! I'm sure you will do fine! Yes my friend would definitely have gone to Harvard. Harvard is a big name, especially in China, and it really opens a lot of doors. It would be a huge advantage for her if she ever goes back to China to work. I am very interested in the book list and would be very grateful if you could send it to me! Thanks a lot!
  16. Yes, IEDP. She's from China and she went straight to IEDP after her undergraduate studies! That's quite cool. She basically applied to the same schools that we did - Harvard, Penn, Columbia, NYU, Vanderbilt. All IE program. And she got offers from all school but Harvard - she told me that Harvard IEP is more inclined to accepting candidates with work experience.
  17. Yes I know! That's so awesome! I have a friend studying at Penn, and she raves about it. I wish I could hear back from them sooner. But I actually just submitted my application on Saturday... It's not even ready for review yet. Have to be patient
  18. To be completely honest, Vandy is not exactly my top choice. It's a great school of course, but I am an international student, and I really want to gain access to the resources/ connections available in bigger cities, where the other schools are located in. I concur with you that the Vandy program seems a bit more theory-oriented. And since I plan to work after graduation, I also prefer a more practice-oriented program. I just submitted my Penn application a few days ago (urgh procrastination!), so I guess I won't hear back from them until late February. For the time being I think I will do deeper research into the Vandy program.
  19. Congratulations!!! I have been accepted to Vanderbilt with 33% funding as well :)!
  20. Hello my fellow IEP/IE/IED applicant!!! I am applying to all 4 schools that you are applying to, plus Vanderbilt! I share similar views on the programs. The international internship component of Penn's program is really attractive to me. I haven't submitted any of my applications though.. Still working on my statement of purpose. It's really hard to squeeze my story into less than 1000 words! I actually worked in an international airline for a few years before I decided to switch to education. I am now a volunteer teacher in rural China, I also worked in a start-up education NGO in Hong Kong during the past summer. (I am from Hong Kong) My lack of substantial education and research experiences is my weakness. (I studied business in college, no research component at all!) My undergrad GPA is pretty low too, a bit short of 3.4. (But according to a third-party evaluation agency, my GPA is equivalent to 3.6 under the US standards. Getting my GPA evaluated is a special requirement for international applicants. Some (TC, Penn) require the evaluation when I submit my application - so I am less worried about those 2 schools. But for other schools that only require the evaluation after I am admitted, my GPA is still a major weakness.) Best of luck to both of us!
