About to start a Fulbright research grant in Kosovo looking at drought management Questions/Concerns: Need funding or some sort of scholarship to help with tuition. I am just curious to see how competitive I could be for some of these programs
  2. Hey, Apologies if this has been asked, but I will be applying for the 2017-2018 year. Do I need to apply to Universities as well as the NSF GFRP or are you basically a shoe-in if awarded the grant? Thanks
  3. How long after their initial email did everyone receive the letter in the mail from Fulbright? Curious to find out my dates and more logistics for next year
  4. Congrats!! Glad to hear it. See you at orientation in July!
  5. I'm rooting for you! Keep us posted
  6. HEEEYYYYOOOOOOOO!!!! Me too man! Congrats!! I'd say we start a group but I think its just us lol. I'm pumped
  7. Here you go: https://www.facebook.com/groups/fulbrightapplicants/
  8. Same. Someone from the Fulbright Applicant Facebook group said that IIE wanted to notify everyone by April 15th this year, although that looks unlikely to me based on how many of us are still waiting
  9. I'm looking at water conservation during times of drought. I'm hoping we find out ASAP since I need to make a decision about another opportunity within the next week or two
  10. I hope so too. I think they might, but I talked to someone with IIE and Balkan countries can give or take grant money to other countries so we are technically competing with everyone else who applied to the Balkans. This is just my impression though and my advisor's. Whats your project looking to research?
  11. This is hopefully the week for a lot of us. Good luck everyone
  12. I agree with this. Accept the Princeton Fellowship and back out if you need. Fulbright is never a sure bet for anyone and I would hate to see you reject the Princeton offer and get denied from Fulbright. Good luck with the decision and be proud you got accepted to Princeton in Africa. I've been looking into Princeton in Asia and it seems incredible
  13. If I get the Fulbright I would definitely take it. Seems like a once in a lifetime opportunity and I would love to carry out my research project. Where did you apply for the Fulbright? My country (Kosovo) usually sends notifications mid April as well so I know how you feel
  14. The waiting is beginning to wear on me. I just got a job working for the USDA in Hawaii and I have to let them know within a few weeks, so I am hoping we all find out ASAP. Anyone else in a similar position with a job offer or grad school?
  15. I don't think anyone has. I assume some of us will find out this week I am pretty sure the email comes from New York
  16. Not me, but my friend who applied to Portugal ETA heard back today so it seems that announcements have begun
  17. What is everybody's backup plan if they don't get the Fulbright? I have a job offer and have been holding off on accepting it because the Fulbright is what I want the most. What about everyone else?
  18. Happy March everyone! This is a big month for a lot of us. Unfortunately, I think I am going to be waiting until mid-April =/
  19. Hey, has anyone heard back about their transcripts? I am assuming that if they didn't receive mine then they would have sent me an email, but I would like to be sure about this. Thanks
  20. Hey, I have been thinking about applying for a young explorers grant. Do you have any suggestions or websites you could point me to for advice? What is your project on and where are you going?
  21. Hey, The Fulbright stats page is total applicants. There are only 1.5-2 semi finalists per grant. For example if the country you applied to had 5 grants there would be between 7-10 semi finalists. The Fulbright page is total applicants
  22. Bumping the question about interviews and whether or not every country holds them
  23. Great! Thanks Kj002 and photogeographic for the answers. It's much appreciated Another question I have is: On the Fulbright website it says the 30th is the day we will receive notification of whether or not we have been recommended to our host country. Is there any chance we get notified before that or is that the day everyone finds out? I really want to get the Fulbright and it is my top option as a graduating senior, but the waiting process is far too long in my opinion. I am losing my mind over here...lol
  24. Hey, found this site today. How is everyone doing? I'm a research applicant for Eastern Europe. My question is does anyone know when statistics for 2016-2017 will be put up on the Fulbright website. I will be curious to see how many people applied to my country to try and gather an idea of what my odds are Thanks
