I guess for everyone who applied by Jan 4th. Hi leeangie, are you an international applicant?
-
FYI just spoken to the admissions and they said majority of decisions will go out by the end of next week.
-
Hi Cait, I forgot to ask if you managed to get additional funding from Fordham. I remember you mentioned you emailed them them to ask for more funding. What was their response? Was it a straight "no"? Thanks!
-
Oh so you're one of the priority deadline applicants. I think I won't hear back anytime soon (my application was competed on Jan 4)
-
Congrats! I'm expecting to hear from the School by next Thursday as I have received the email "Welcome from the Dean" this morning. Many people said they received their acceptance letter a week after they received this email.

Congrats Leeangie! May I ask when did you submit your application?
-
Congrats on being accepted to UChicago! That's awesome. By the way, when Columbia mentioned to you on the phone that the decisions will go out next week, did they say that this is specifically for those applications submitted during the priority deadline or this applies to everyone submitted their applications within Jan 4th deadline? Also soft_skeleton I think (if you have not done so) you should ask UChicago to kindly extend the deadline for you to say 'yes' to them

Wow this program sounds so interesting and I agree that whoever join this program would have a bandwidth to work at least part time during the academic year. Thanks again Tudor for explaining to us.
-
Congrats Tudor! Can you tell us a bit more about the Summer Block Program? I wonder what it is. Is it a two year program starting in Summer this year?
-
It is possible to expect to hear from Columbia this week?
-
The wait is grilling me. Mid-Feb has passed, but we haven't heard anything at all.
-
Thanks Cait and sorry to hear that you wont be attending Fordham. However, who knows you might be attending another program in NYC and we might run into one another at some points within the next two years. Anyway, please keep us posted of your decision!

It happened to me as well. It freaked me out when I saw pending materials on my checklist. I then decided to email the admissions and ask if they can find the missing documents and sent them the screenshots from the application page (not Albert) and then the next day, my checklist was updated accordingly. My advice to you is to reach out to them and get them to confirm that they receive everything because otherwise your application won't get evaluated (not until all materials are submitted). I applied on Jan 28th and my application was completed on 29th on Albert and I have not heard anything from them after since.

True. This is the problem with living and studying in NYC as your Fed loan will not cover your tuition (unless you extend your study to 3 year?) and you may need to consider taking out Grad Plus loan to offset the difference of 20,500 - (tuition plus living expense in NYC)/year. I know many people take out the Grad Plus Loan because although they work part time, it is very difficult for them to survive all those bills in Manhattan. One bad thing about the Grad Plus Loan is its interest rates.

I believe you will receive the package once you accept a school's offer. I am not sure if that is the case though. However, I know that the maximum amount of loan we are eligible for is $20,500 / year.

I applied directly through FAFSA website (at www.fafsa.ed.gov). I remember I applied on Jan 25 and I heard back on Jan 26 with the email body below: Dear XYZ,Congratulations, your FAFSA was processed successfully.

Thank you tudor! I thought they only offered only one option at Wilshire and that was why my jaws dropped. Now see more options you are referring to at http://www.fordham.edu/info/20421/living_on_campus/5667/housing_rates_2015-2016 and they seem to be at reasonable rates. Man, I am so impressed with Fordham's admissions staff. I guess this is definitely their strong selling point.

Is anyone considering an on campus housing at Fordham's Lincoln Center? It's in the heart of the city and seems pricey.
-
Thank you so much FT-Grad2016 and MSW768!

I managed to talk myself out of the Fordham's conditional offer today. When visiting the School, I found out that the reason why I was offered a part time 3 year study plan last Thirsday was that I have a low CUM GPA from my undergrad (in 2009). I met with Stephen 11:20am, an admissions associate who was very helpful and trying to build a case for me to remove my conditional offer. It was like an interview asking questions back and forth giving me a chance to explain why my GPA is low. After spending half an hour with Stephen and giving him good reasons and assuring him of the benefits of having me as a full time student, he told me he would approach the Interim Director to appeal the decision at noon. I then said thank and left his office. While I was walking to the subway, I received an email from Fordham with a new acceptance letter and this time they offered me a Full Time 3 Year Study Plan without any conditions. It was literally 12:05pm. I checked my application status and the new decision was updated accordingly as well. I don't know how to explain how much happy I am. I'm so pleased with the admissions team at Fordham. They listened to my problems and I believe they treat each student's case individually with care. Thus, I would suggest whoever have any problems or any doubts, please reach out to the admissions, especially Stephen. I would also recommend to visit the School and sit down and talk with the admissions team and you will be so surprised how helpful they are.

Hi Morningjunky! Thank you so much for this in depth research. I agree that we need to not only compare tuitions, but also the living expenses when making decision on grad school choices. I'm sure many will find your findings very helpful.
