Anxiously waiting for Latin America too  I have been scared of being a super positive person when it comes to these type of things because I am so used to rejections from all the scholarships, graduate programs, fellowships, summer internships, etc. I find it very hard to be super optimistic at this point, especially in such a soul crushing and competitive grant.  Sending good juju vibes to the universe now and hoping we at least get to know our fate this week.

@inkstainedarm That is interesting!! I hope so too! I also got an email a couple of days ago from my Uni with the first line of it saying "We are delighted to confirm that we have now received either your deposit payment or official confirmation of sponsorship to secure your place on the MSc Conservation and Biodiversity programme." I thought that was interesting how it didnt specify either the deposit payment or the scholarship, especially since I secured my deposit since the deadline in November 2016. I am hoping the timing of this email is because they will notify us soon aka THIS WEEK.

Yep! I'm waiting to hear back about Leicester.  What are you hoping to study at the University of Exeter?

Not selected for research to Israel ? I'm obviously super disappointed, but luckily I have a backup plan that I'm also thrilled with (fully funded PhD program at UNC).
Thanks to everyone in this forum for being such a fabulous emotional support system! I'll still be rooting for each and every one of you!!

Really? Maybe it's based on region but I was never contacted again as an alternate to Leicester, UK.  I wished they had done so but I understand that it would have been a lot of work to keep so many people updated.  If you do get contacted in April please let us know what they say!

This is what was in my email: " We have been informed by ECA about having all U.S. student notifications go out by March 1. U.S. Student applicants could have many offers this spring.  In order to stay competitive with graduate school and other fellowship acceptance deadlines, Fulbright is aiming to notify all U.S. Student candidates of their selection status by April 1 (preliminary).  To meet this deadline, we were asked to complete our review by March 1.  "

    To all UK semi-finalists,
It seems like UK results were generally released on Tuesdays (few Mondays) over the past decade so I'm guessing we'll hear back on the 21st or the 28th..

Research. I just cannot believe they gave a Fulbright to a rural 39 year old with kids. It took me 10 years to finish my undergrad... guess I'll have to fake it and act like I belong...
    Thanks for the congrats everyone!

Just to put in my two cents on this, it really depends on your ultimate career goals, and the field that you are pursuing. Masters are generally the cash cow of any educational institution. The fact that yours is fully funded is a really big deal, and should definitely be considered a strong positive for that decision.
If you anticipate pursuing a PhD in your field, then you can perhaps give the masters a little less weight. With the Fulbright under your belt, you would likely be able to gain entry in to a fully funded PhD program. It's likely that program would grant you a masters in passing if you so desire, but ultimately the masters does not have as much importance to your end goal (i.e., the PhD).
If you only need a masters, then the final call really needs to be up to you - the Fulbright would provide a once in a lifetime opportunity to live in a foreign country, fully funded, with minimal stress. You truly get to immerse yourself in a new culture, and have experiences that others literally dream of. The Fulbright would potentially open many doors for better grad schools. The other thing to consider, though, is the better masters program will most likely not fund you. This tradeoff is something to ultimately consider, but on the other hand masters programs aren't going anywhere in the next two years. Your Fulbright offer is more likely to be a one time deal.
This is definitely a big decision, I would definitely encourage you to keep asking around (like you have on here!  ) to see what people think. Ask your professors or mentors that you respect a lot, and see what new perspectives they may lend. Ultimately, the decision will come down to you. It's your life, your experience, your decision. There will probably be one that just feels better to you, gives you less stress, less questions about "what if?" and your gut will likely tell you the way to go.

Just got a " Congratulations On Your Fulbright U.S. Student Award " e-mail, but still nothing with (P) in the subject... anxiously awaiting that second e-mail, as I've been burned before (UCSD accidentally sent me an acceptance once). Cautiously celebrating that I am likely going to Norway next year!
