Oh no.  I'm so sorry to here it.  There's always next year though!

I'm mostly terrified because my backup plan - staying at my university as a non-TT faculty - is not as secure as it seems now. Enrollments are down across the board, and I would have reduced course loads for the next 3 semesters (at least), as well as teaching courses below the gen-ed level. I'm not really comfortable teaching those, as I have no real experience or education to assists TESOL or adult learners with language/writing barriers. And know I would be doing that kind of work for less than what I (struggled) to make now has me freaking out.
I only have one rejection so far, but it was from a program that I thought was a shoe-in, based on how I tailored my studies to their faculty and focus.
Also, I'm 31 (just turned 31 today!) and trying not to have too much of a meltdown...
/whine.
Okay, I feel a little better now. Carry on. 

I got my first acceptance!! Fully funded PhD at CMU! I haven't heard from my top choice, but it's such a relief to have a good offer in the bank.

Oh god I just got a mail titled "rejection/waitlisted" but it was for a one day event I applied for (something cool but not important). Took my mind 2 long seconds to realize that the title was in German, and therefore it is for sure not Oxford. Phew.
On a side note: I decided to rewatch firefly while waiting.

Heading to the States on Monday. Never been there before. And I am transfer from London. Never been in UK before either.

Few weeks ago my brain decided to touch a baking sheet that had been out of the oven for 1min without gloves. My immediate reaction was "you are going to be a great doctor".

Yup, I've run into a couple of people here waiting to hear back from the programs I applied to as well.  While technically we are each other's competition, we're all rooting for each other!

Waffles = yum! Alas, I have maple syrup in my cupboard but no ingredients to make anything I might drizzle it on. And it's a bit late here in London for grocery runs...
Also, I'm really wishing I'd decided to stop just lurking here sooner. 1) Because you are lots of lovely people and it's all warm and snuggly and supportive, and 2) because no sooner had I de-cloaked myself to complain about not having heard anything, I received an interview invitation from one of my top choices! If only I'd joined in here earlier..! 
So thanks all for precipitating that bit of good news for me, and congrats to everyone who's had something to celebrate so far!

Hello all, another lurker here being driven out of the woodwork by the pains of Februgatory (brilliant term!). First post here on gradcafe, so hope I've hit all the right buttons in the right places 
Looking at past years, I shouldn't be hearing from any of the (only 5) programs to which I've applied before the end of this week at the earliest, and the majority not til closer to the end of the month and into March (and possibly early April, in one hideous case), but seeing other people in the same subject areas getting interviews and offers from other places is just soooo hard! I keep thinking, 'Why didn't I apply there, then I'd have heard by now?', because clearly I forgot when researching programs that it's not fit, or funding opportunities, or location that are the most important things to consider when applying, it's waiting times and the speed of the adcomms! Or that's how it feels at the moment, at least 
Of course, being exceedingly British, I am dealing with the anxiety by drinking excessive amounts of tea...

In Februgatory, we climb the mount of Waitfulness, through terraces of The Proud (those with awesome GRE scores), The Envious (those with less than awesome GRE scores), The Wrathful (seriously, eff this GRE thing), The Slothful (eh, apps are due the 15th; I'll email my old prof on the 13th for a LOR, he's chill), The Covetous (why did SHE get an interview and I didn't?!), The Gluttonous (everything will be better with pie), and The Lustful (tindr hookups will  help me forget my pain!), finally ascending to The Earthly Paradise on February 29th, when we receive That Email.
Through each terrace, you check your email fifty times an hour, BTW.

I think it's pretty much whenever they get around to it. We have to remember they have their own research / students / classes / (sometimes life outside academia) / etc. to attend to...which means, you could get a call/email from your POI later at night or an email early in the morning from a departmental secretary. It's going to be a surprise either way.

Two emails on my uni-account. Both not related to my application. Two notification sounds. Two missed heart beats.

I'm going to consciously ignore the legitimacy of that statement and use it to reinforce my desire to have chocolate.
But one question: what if my happiness level is zero? O.o

Hmm... as a future doctor I can say it should rise your happiness level by 23% for each 10grams. (You should really not trust me with medical decisions yet...)

Hey fellow Americans, don't forget that this Wednesday is National Carrot Cake Day. My department chair commissioned me to make a cake (I always bring cookies in) so I got the ingredients today and man is it going to be beautiful. Double-layered with a buttercream glaze between the layers, and frosted with a cream cheese - buttercream frosting, with coconut drizzled throughout (though I'm allergic to coconut, so no taste-testing). I'm pumped!

I'm sorry that grad school application season is the time you get diagnosed. Ar least you have adorable puppies?!

Just me waiting to hear back from the MSc in Neuroscience (Oxford). Have absolutely no clue if I've got a chance or the adcom just laughed and then burned my CV.
Someone on The Student Room got an invite to an interview yesterday (on a Saturday huh?). Do they send out all invites at the same time and rejections later?
Oh and I've received a very special rejection on Friday. The love of my life refused to even see me once to talk, so much for telling people how you feel.
I need to get accepted and out of this country, seriously.
