@mlopez I made adjustments to make me a stronger candidate overall. My cumulative GPA is some what respectable but I wondered if my English degree would hinder my chances, so aside from the prerequisite MSW application courses I took two courses related to social work. I also added an extra social work activity along with the other volunteer work. My original application held references from two professional sources and one academic, but this year I felt that two academic references would better express my capacity and competence for a masters program considering my GPA. I read my original personal statement and did not like it, so I edited it to flow better; although I was accepted with it, I am still unhappy with my personal statement. I did attend the information meeting and it gave me a good sense of the program. If you have further questions or need more depth, feel free to ask. I worked very hard to get here; my life revolved around getting into this program, and I do not take for granted the opportunity. I hope we can share this achievement one day, so do not give up @mlopez

@Neeks Thank you! I submitted all of the LORs in person because I wanted to stay on top of the professors; the sooner the application was submitted, the sooner it would get reviewed by the department. I felt that it was crucial to get the applications in early because some programs admit on a rolling basis. The earliest application that I submitted was at the beginning of November, and the last application was in early December.

Hi everyone, I was recently offered an interview at CSUF for the full-time program. I was accepted to two other schools for the same program; I am considering it since I did my undergrad at CSUF. Last year, in my senior year of undergrad I applied to one school but was not offered admission, so it feels pretty darn good to have been offered the opportunity at all three schools that I applied to for this fall! If anyone has questions, please feel free to ask.

@BackNSchool83 I was also a transfer in my undergrad; you are to combine the "old" grades from all of the junior colleges that you have attended in the past and include them with your current university grades to get the cumulative GPA. I transferred around three different junior colleges and had to include those grades with the university of where I conferred my degree. The admission's office will also ask for transcripts from all of the schools that you attended post high school, so get a few copies to be safe. Dont sweat the grades too much; instead try to make yourself a solid candidate in the other categories. -
@chasingmydreams09 Thank you! Here are the dates after looking over my notes, I submitted my application to the department 11/21 and received the confirmation of submission email 11/23. As far as stats, I graduated from CSUF last year with a bachelors in English and a 3.01 cumulative GPA. I applied to last year's admission cycle as an undergrad, so I am very blessed to have been accepted this time around. My social work activities include: after-school mentoring for a non-profit program, volunteering at a V.A. hospital, and philanthropy work for a children's hospital. Last year, I only applied to CSULB and although the rejection letter stung, I didn't lose sight of my goal. This admission cycle, I applied to three schools (CSULB, CSUDH, CSUF) and so far I have been accepted by two of the three schools. From what I've been told by the program coordinator, CSUF will be contacting applicants this month to interview. Any other questions, please feel free to ask.

@rmeza Congratulations on your acceptance to CSUDH! Do you mind sharing your stats (GPA/ Major)? Which concentration have you decided on? Are you going full-time or part-time? Please keep us updated on other acceptances. Good luck to you in the future. -
I called the SW department earlier this week and asked the status of my application, I was told that the department is still evaluating applications. I'm aware of the orientation for the new grad MSW students coming up on May 7th, so I poked a question regarding that; I was told that another orientation will be held. It's possible we won't hear anything until early June. I wish you all the best.
