  1. Those are some good points! Thanks for the reply!
  2. Hi guys! So I've narrowed down my choices to Northwestern and Teachers College (bilingual extension). Northwestern and TC are both very expensive so I'm not really focused on the money but more on the programs themselves. If I go to TC then I could live from home and commute to NYC. If I go to NU then I would be moving from NJ to Evanston/Chicago. What do you guys think of the programs compared to each other??
  3. The open house is April 1st! You can sign up via the portal where you got the acceptance!
  4. Also in the same situation - between TC and Northwestern and likewise, Northwestern is ranked much higher. What I'll be doing is visiting both schools so that I have the opportunity to see where I fit best! I'm not sure whether Vanderbilt has a bilingual focus but I think that's one of TC strong suits and how diverse New York is! It's tough cause all programs offer different focused and experiences. It all depends on what you really want!
  5. I think they'll probably let us know next week!
  6. I am probably going to be attending Northwestern, which is extremely pricey (about $106k for both years). As my friends know, I go big or go home. So I'm waiting to hear about funding, if not I have a little saved up for rent and living expenses, but I will be taking out my tuition in loans and whatever I can't cover for rent. I don't have crazy loans from undergrad, so that is definitely a factor. But I am also not scared of loans per say. It is my personal choice and I feel comfortable with it. Even if I went to a less expensive grad program, I would still be taking thousands of dollars in loans. Plus I feel it's worth it if it's a program I really want to attend. Is it a little nerve wrecking? Hells yeah. But I believe in being a positive person and believing things will work themselves out in the end!
  7. Hi! I'm probably attending Northwestern as well!! But I haven't made a FB group. Are you from the Chicago area?
  8. Thanks!! My mom suggested the same thing you are - going to half and half of the programs. I'm just one of those people that feels like when they leave early or arrive late you're missing something. But I want to give both programs an equal chance! I was thinking of going to Rush first and then Northwestern. It seems like it would be a hectic day but I think it might be necessary!!
  9. So I'm going to be flying into Chicago from Jersey on the weekend of the 25th. Originally I received an acceptance from Rush and I booked my flight to see their open house. But now I've also been accepted to Northwestern. Except there open house is the VERY SAME DAY at the very same time. So now I don't know what to do. I can't come back a different weekend and none of the schools are doing individual tours. What do you guys think??
  10. What do you mean by Round #1 for McGill? Do you think they'll accept more people or do you think they're done sending out acceptances?
  11. Thank you so much! That makes me really excited!!
  12. Yes! I have heard that from other sites. But I talked to some current students and they really love it and feel it's top notch. And while it is possible that they accept a lot of people, I don't think it takes away from the program being good - I mean it has to be the #5 rated program for a reason? If anything I think it would just make me feel less special lol but it could still be an amazing program.
  13. Oh wow! You were always close then! Why were you apprehensive about the acceptance rate?
  14. Thats great! I'm actually visiting Chicago for the first time for the Northwestern open house! So I'm really excited. Have you??
  15. Honestly I would be happy in a hospital setting or a school setting. I currently work with children with learning disabilities and I really love it and I know that Northwestern really puts a focus on that. Plus they different placements (1 school, 1 clinic, and 1 hospital) and allow you to choose a concentration. So at the moment, while I really like Rush's program, I am leaning towards Northwestern.
  16. I'm actually from New Jersey but I really wanted to go away from grad school and settled on the Chicago area! I knew Northwestern was one of the best programs and I'm really excited I got in! The price tag is a bit daunting and I also got into Rush (which is cheaper) so I'm trying to make a good decision! Although I did talk to a current student at Northwestern and they said the money was worth it.
  17. Is anyone here considering Northwestern? Or has already decided on Northwestern? I'm visiting during one of the open houses and wanted to know people's thoughts on this program!
  18. I was just accepted into the graduate SLP program at Northwestern and plan to visit in 2 weeks? Has anyone here visited and fell in love? And has the price tag scared any of you?
  19. I haven't heard back either. But based on last year, I think they tend to let people know late in March. I'm applying to the speech with bilingual extension program, but I'm not expecting an answer anytime soon.
  20. I don't think so. I was trying to figure out what it meant. But I'm thinking it's an identifier.
  21. When I applied to McGill a few months back, the profile tab asked me whether I had a McGill ID number. I responded "no" because I had never been a student at McGill so obviously didn't have one. But when I checked today, it had been changed to yes and I had a 9 digit ID number. I think this is just a number they give to all the applicants (probably to identify people easier). Has anyone else experienced this change in the McGill portal?
  22. Awesome! I have to hear from like four other schools so I'm keeping my options open too but Rush is my second choice so I'm excited to check out Chicago. I'm from New Jersey.
  23. Hey guys! So I recently got admitted to Rush (eep! ) and I'm attending the open house on the 25th! Is anyone else attending the preview days or thinking of going to Rush?
  24. When you log back in does it say that you're still waiting for a decision?
  25. I haven't heard back yet either. I think since only three people have posted, it's possible they JUST started making decisions and they'll continue to let us know over the course of the next couple of weeks. I wouldn't lose hope yet! I'm also nervous to hear back.
