  1. I also got an email notifying me of admission this week to their MA program, instead of their PhD program to which I applied. Given that I already have an MA from another school, taking this offer seemed very silly, so I turned down the offer, hoping this would allow other potential waitlisted students. Although the program sounds great, it will cost a lot to complete the program if you don't have a scholarship along the offer. If this is the only option which you don't mind paying for your education and also really in need for a MA degree, I'd say go for it. Otherwise, I don't think it would be the best option you'd have as a step for the PhD programs.
  2. I have to agree with this... as someone being waitlisted to my top schools, I would like to beg to those who received multiple offers... you got multiple offers because you are amazing at what you do, and I am truly very happy for you. When you make your decision of where you are going, please let the schools know as soon as you can so that us waiting to hear back can get out of misery and return to our normal lives. Thank you very, very much for your thoughtfulness and consideration in advance!
  3. I have a question for anyone who knows about waitlists-- does it mean anything to receive the notification earlier than others? For example, someone receiving a sort of generic email notifying that he/she was waitlisted a day or two before someone else did, does this speak to the order of the waitlists? or is this usually completely random/sent by alphabetical order? By the way, the school held only one 2-day interview session. Do you think it means that someone who received the waitlist email before some others is more likely to come off the waitlist than others, in other words, a better alternate for that particular school?
  4. Hi all, I just found out that I am waitlisted at one of my top choices. This is a program that invited a ton of prospectives for the interview, and offered admission to less than a half of the prospectives. I know that they invited a few international students this year, and I was one of them. I am wondering if the chances are different (due to factors such as funding) for international and domestic students. Do you think the chances are lower for an international student to get off the waitlists than domestic students? Would it work like, if they were to accept 5 students and 5 were waitlisted out of 30 people, they will only have one open position for international students and one is waitlisted? Do you have any ideas? Please help... little devastated... Thank you for reading!
  5. Hi, I was wondering if anyone has heard back from CUNY neuroscience collaborative program post-interview. It has been about 4 weeks since the interview, and I haven't heard back from them ever since. Has anyone heard from them? Thank you very much in advance for any information.
