  1. I've heard of a strange rumor that the schools prefer outsiders to insiders due to diversity. I hope this was your case and the other schools will prefer you to anyone else to work with.
  2. I apologize in advance if this is a repeated question. It seems that I will move to a new continent to live for five or so years. I know where I will end up starts the fall semester on 22 August and as an international student, they say I will have to be there at least 30 days before the semester starts. Just wondering when everyone who is moving leaves where you are to settle in the new location. I know I will have to do lots of stuff such as housing, license, car, bank, furniture etc. Will 30 days do, or are you leaving say, 2 months in advance? Is there anything else I have to arrange once I get there? Thanks for the reply in advance.
  3. Maybe I am misreading. Since it is 5 in the morning here, I might as well wake up later and check my email again because I cannot believe I am off the waitlist!!! What happened!!! Thank god!!!
  4. Yep! I guess hoping for the best is all I can do except watching series with wines and or beers. I've always wanted to read or collect data for future research, but ended up watching stupid series. May I ask what field you are applying to? I am going for biz, which now looking back and seeing all those who got acceptances, seems to be one of the hardest to get in without papers and appropriate job experience. But, we will eventually get what we want one way or another!
  5. I believe most wailists are unofficial because the coordinator of one university that waitlisted me said that I am "officially" first on the waitlist, but guess what? My friend who applied to the same university, same division got the exactly same email. Everything that is not written on paper has to be unofficial and I don't think there is any school that writes you where you are on the waitlist on paper.
  6. With you on this. All I got is 2 waitlists. One's done interview and the other just letting me know I am in "the other pool". I wake up in the morning praying for an email with "Congratulations", but it has been two weeks of "...regret to inform you...". Maybe tomorrow! I still have hopes!
  7. I guess you can reach out. After receiving waitlist email last Monday, I sent all the remaining schools emails asking about the status. While some said they are still reviewing, some others said they are done for the year. I dont think professors and staff are cruel enough to reject you just because you reached out. Most of times if not all, they are very nice and gentle. So I vote for making contacts. As long as the deadlines were more than 2 months ago.
  8. So with 6 rejections and 2 waitings, and 18 without a pee, I feel very much pessimistic and am in much of need for more beer. I guess I hav to start job searching. Wanna cry...
  9. This is the greatest story to cope with the waiting! Hope you get into the program you applied.
  10. Whatever happends in the next few days could be critical. But I know you will end up with a great program! Keep us posted and wish you the best of luck!
  11. As long as funding is not arranged by the current accepting school, I think calling off the offer you took is not strictly polite nor too rude. I wish you make a decision that will not involve any withdrawal. Well, what's done is done. I guess here you will need to wait for the answer from your top choices. Also, if one is going to be angry at you asking for an answer and just put you out because of that, I guess that school would not be your top choice any longer. Mostly schools are nice and I think they will give you some information that will help you make your decision. I can feel your nervousness. Just hang in there alittle more.
  12. I am with you too. My interview was Feb 19th and they said they will have interviews the following week, and the next week which was last week was spring break. This was where my hopes were coming from. Although now I feel it is just going to be No in the end, I can't concentrate on anything. Let's hope it will be a Yes for both of us, opposed to my expectation.
  13. Thank you for your advice. As @easybreezy said, it is How to get away with murder. Well, the thing is I've applied to more than 20 schools (many of business majors normally apply this many unless they are the star players in the field), and so far it is just one rejection, one interview, and nothing else. I've gotta stop watching series and start doing something productive to keep my brain busy. It is good to know that someone is trying something while I am totally wasted. So thank you. That happened with me, too. My recommender ended up sending an email with the letter attached, but I've never gotten a confirmation from that university and this unbelievable event happened three times. Currently I have no hair left to tear out, but certainly have a decent wine to cheer myself up a little (Please consider the time lag). I don't know what else to do other than wait and freak out for every alarm on my phone. But thank you very much for informing me that I'm not completely alone.
  14. Is there anyone waiting for an answer from any of the schools? It seems like everyone here has got at least one offer on the table. As a person with no news whatsoever from any, I am going CRAZY! although watching HTGAWM is helping alittle(Thanks to all of you who suggested this series). Plz spare me a thought on how to get over with this waiting that is eating me up.
