  1. Hi Educ, thank you! These are both Masters programs. I am thinking about pursuing an EdD after, but will see where life takes me throughout my 2 years in the Masters program. Will you be attending UCLA? I went there for undergrad and stay connected to the school in a number of ways. Would have loved to go there for grad school
  2. Hello, While I've never been in your situation, I think looking out for your own well-being and safety is an admirable and honorable reason to leave a program and apply elsewhere. I'm not sure if you're thinking of applying to any schools in the US, but all the applications I've seen here have a space devoted to explaining why you've chosen to leave your previous program (if applicable). I'm assuming this means that your situation is not unheard of and that schools understand this may be the case with some students. If you have a supervisor or advisor who you can get feedback from on the situation in confidence, that would be helpful. If you can submit applications while continuing your current program (just in case you don't get accepted anywhere), I say do it. There is no point in putting forth all the effort and sacrifices to complete a program in a place where you will not thrive. I wish you the best of luck in your journey!
  3. Loving all the enthusiasm and acceptances on here I was accepted to University of San Diego's Higher Education Leadership program and also invited to interview for San Diego State University's Postsecondary Educational Leadership - Student Affairs program. These are the only 2 that I applied to--need to stay local to the San Diego area, but I'm glad I have some options! Interview/campus visit days for both schools overlap (one is Thurs-Fri, other is Fri-Sat) so hopefully I can make them both work. Getting major FOMO seeing acceptances from schools I would have love to attend. Congrats everyone!
  4. That's awesome you've found what you want to do so early on! I applied to the following: San Diego State University - MA Postsecondary Educational Leadership w/ Student Affairs specialization (lots of opportunities for assistantships) University of San Diego - MA Higher Education Leadership (also plenty of assistantships avaiable) Other ones I've heard great things about and/or know people who completed these programs: Both UCLA and Colorado State, as mentioned above Cal State Fullerton - MS Higher Education University of San Francisco - MA Higher Education Student Affairs There are so many options out there! And I've found that many professors and students are more than willing to chat on the phone or set up an informational interview. If you are local to any of the schools you're considering, try attending an info session (usually happens 1-2 times per year), or scheduling an invidual visit. The student affairs world is quite small, so I'm sure we will run into each other in the near future. Good luck with your grad school journey!
