Yay! Ohhhh, so many reasons. I found the Penn program to be heavily rooted in social justice, has diverse faculty and students, has immigration social work and health social work, located in a city where I would be able to do work with urban population. What ultimately made my decision was when I went to visit penn and all the other colleges in my list. I knew that this program is for me.

Received a small scholarship from the college. And gonna take out federal loans for the rest of the tuition and living expenses.

Anyone on this forum that is applying to or going to UPenn? I just put down my deposit and excited that I will be attending their program. It has been my first choice.

I got accepted to Upenn! It's my first choice, so I think I will be saying yes.

Wanted to create a thread for Upenn. I am thinking of possibly applying, and wanted to hear thoughts about others' application process and why upenn. The cost is definitely playing a factor in my hesitation.

I hope you get in and hear back from Smith soon!

I thought I would create a space where we can discuss our Smith application. I just heard back from them. I got IN!!! I'm still deciding about whether to accept.

Hey there. I thought I would share some things about Smith if that's okay. Smith is technically all clinical. Even there application says clinical. I went to the information session at smith in October. There they talked about how there are opportunities to do a macro focus of you want - in terms of placement and electives. They are integrating more policy and management in their curriculum. There were current students and alums that were at the info session. The were some that were working in policy/management jobs. I think it's worth applying and looking into their curriculum/electives page.

I am working on my essays and having massive anxiety about I am going to afford these schools? How am I going to afford tuition and living cost with that much commitment from schools? Anyone else in this boat?
-
How long did it take you to hear back from NYU? How early did you apply? I am working on my NYU essay and hopefully will submit it first week of January.

Hi there! I am applying to Smith. The questions are very specific and hard. I have rough draft for questions 1, 2, and 5. Struggling with 3 and 4.

So far I have UPENN, NYU, and Smith on my list. I am going to do more research and include some safe schools. It's hard to know which schools can be my safe ones.
