  1. If you can work that into your essay, go for it. But I would caution against focusing on it too much because then it may seem like you didn't do anything impressive or interesting in college.
  2. Given that it is a high school competition and not a college-level one I would say the achievement would only have a small effect on your chances. It can't hurt, though.
  3. US News rankings aren't exactly perfect but they do break down the rankings into subdisciplines, one of which is theoretical. https://www.usnews.com/best-graduate-schools/top-science-schools/theoretical-science-rankings
  4. UC Berkeley finally decided to send out rejections today
  5. I also visited Stanford this cycle and I'm curious which prof you heard bad things about (you can dm me if you want) and what lab had the broken equipment?
  6. Has anyone gotten an outright rejection from Berkeley yet? I'm assuming I didn't get in at this point, but I'm just curious.
  7. It's hard to say what your chance of getting accepted is. In general, they will not ask you specific chemistry questions to test your knowledge. They will probably ask you about your resume / research experience and what you want to work on in grad school and why you think Wayne State is a good place to get a PhD.
  8. I'm also excited to visit Princeton but I'm visiting the late February dates. This is a really fantastic thread of useful information
  9. Accepted to Caltech today by phone! (applied for inorganic) Haven't gotten any other information yet.
  10. Berkeley and Stanford both have visit days the weekends of March 9 and March 16. They have the same visit weekends for the sake of people who get into both. Don't know about MIT
  11. Most likely you will get an official acceptance email in the next few days. Otherwise check your spam inbox. If you don't get anything in a few days, I would email the Stanford admissions email.
  12. Inorganic chemistry, submitted Nov. 30 (day before it was due). I did have a Skype interview with a professor a couple weeks ago.
  13. Yep I am domestic and heard back by email last week. Also, just got acceptance to Princeton by email today!
  14. The easiest way to find this out is to go to this link (part of gradcafe) http://thegradcafe.com/survey/index.php?q=chemistry+university+of+michigan&t=a&o=&pp=25 and this link http://thegradcafe.com/survey/index.php?q=chemistry+university+of+wisconsin&t=a&o=&pp=25 and count the number of admits in 2017, then compare to the number of admits from 2016. If they're about the same number, that's not a good sign.
