  1. It's worth a shot. I know the UB English department (got my MA there two years ago) and they typically are more than happy to help out with travel assistance with possible grad students. They also host massive wine and cheese parties with the members of the department. So, not something I'd want to miss, haha.
  2. I'm in at Miami! They sent me an email stating I'd have a decision posted to their online portal in 48 hours. Exactly 48 hours later, an acceptance! Happy to possibly join this program. Best of luck to everyone else.
  3. Wooooo hoooo! Happy for you!
  4. Anyone else have a school schedule their accepted students campus visit day only 2-3 weeks in advance and then decide to bring you in at a later date because flight prices are too expensive at such short notice? Like, come on. You have to have known this would happen.
  5. My anxiety is through the roof in regards to this Miami program! Why bother letting us know there'll be a notification awaiting us in 48 hours? Why not just notify us straight-up when a decision has been made? I know there's a complex process behind the scenes when it comes to admissions committees distributing funding, etc. But from a student perspective it comes off as CRUEL lol. Glad I got the 48 hour email (I think), but wow, they really helped the next two days turn into perpetual anxious portal-checking that's sure to gnaw away at me. Hoping it pays off.
  6. Thanks @Warelin! I'm hoping you're correct because I received the same "your admission status will be posted in 48 hours" email that @renea received. Crossing fingers.
  7. Wow congratulations! They're such a cool program-- I'm hoping to join as well!
  8. Same thing happened to me with another school! Like... come on... save me the anxiety...
  9. WoW. I've yet to receive this message! I'm thinking this doesn't bode well for my rhet/comp Miami application... Has anyone heard about Penn State's timeline?
  10. Woohoo! Congrats-- Are you heading there for the accepted students day? I've been accepted for the PhD program (English/RhetComp) and am considering if it's worth the 800 mile journey. They also gave us ZERO notice, haha. It's Feb. 23rd.
  11. I wake up this morning having dreamt about receiving "the good news" from my #2 school, Miami University, which supposedly has been sending out acceptance letters in recent days. I walk over to my desk and open up my email to a message from the graduate director of my #1 program, Clemson, informing me of my admission. WOW. Best way to find out, hands down.
  12. Anyone know what programs tend to ask about during interviews like these? I didn't apply to SU but some of the programs I've applied to have done this in recent years. Beyond the personal statement stuff, what're they interested in?
  13. Ah, thanks for the scoop. Fingers crossed. It's just peachy how programs take their time, yet hold us to rigorous deadlines with little leeway, hah
  14. Hello! I'm told you might have a bit of an inside scoop on MIami's PhD program. Any idea when they'll have their decisions out? I'm eagerly awaiting a response from them. Hope your MA there is finishing up nicely.

  15. Congrats! Hoping to receive the same call soon. UNL's program seems to be on the rise.
  16. Anyone hear back from Clemson or North Carolina State PhD programs? I'm awaiting news on both. Best of luck to y'all (this New Yorker'd better develop southern lingo real quick, eh?)...
  17. PhD applicant here. I've been accepted to the Saint Louis PhD program, but I'm eagerly awaiting others because it's not my absolute first choice. I've also applied to VTech, Clemson, NC State, Penn State, Memphis, Miami and Nebraska. Has anyone heard back from any of these PhD programs? Wishing you all luck!
