  1. I think it's because the first round offers have gone out. But, if some of them decline their offers then a lot of schools move onto the next round of profs who are able to interview and accept. So if someone's been rejected it means they've either been rejected by all of their listed POIs or they don't meet the school requirements. If they've been accepted it means they're among the first round of offers. Everyone else is kind of in-between because they haven't been rejected by all of their POIs but they do technically meet the minimum requirements. So until the school's spaces have been filled, they can't technically reject everyone who's qualified unless they've been officially denied by all their POIs. Don't give up hope! Last year I got an extra interview around this time, and this year I was asked to interview (and interviewed) yesterday for another school. Until you're rejected there's still a bit of hope!
  2. I don't think it would hurt at all to email your POIs and the grad department to give them an update. Worst that can happen is they say no.
  3. I was told directly after my preliminary interview that they would like me to return for the visiting/interview day at their university. I think it really varies on the school and POI.
  4. I've spoken to two of my three profs- one has completed his interviews a few weeks ago, and the other is only considering applicants that listed her as first choice for supervisor. I'm pretty sure most have sent out their interview invites at this point.
  5. How long after an interview do people typically get contacted by their POI regarding whether or not they're likely to be admitted?
  6. Hey everyone, Thought I would make a thread regarding interview questions, including: - What questions would be good to ask your POI - What questions would be good to ask the grad students - What questions you're likely to be asked in an interview I know there's been things like this in the past that have helped and I've seen a couple of people asking if there's a thread for this year. Couple obvious questions that may be asked/I've been asked in the past: - Strengths and weaknesses - Why clinical psychology, why that school, why that professor in particular - What kind of learner are you and what's your ideal mentorship style - What are your future goals for your career
  7. I have an interview to Ryerson this week, and my POI has told me that she'd be extending the invite to the visiting day after she'd made her short-list following the preliminary interviews
  8. This is my 4th year applying. My first year I applied to 3. Second year, 13. Third year, 22. This year, 14. I think it really depends on what a person's research interests are and if there are POIs that have similar interests.
  9. The profs only recently were given the applications to review. Most (if not all) haven't sent out interview invites yet!
  10. Can whoever just posted the queens interview PM me their POI? It's my top choice school and this wait is killing me!
  11. Western last year completed their interviews and had made admission decisions by around the end of January. They don't send out rejections until their spaces are filled, which last year was early-mid March. Queens last year people heard regarding interviews by mid-end of January, and people who didn't get interviews had their status updated to a rejection by mid-February. York I believe held their interviews last year in late January; however, they didn't send out rejection letters until the end of March/early April. Unfortunately that's all I know, but hopefully it helps a bit!
  12. I'm not sure how other people would rate them on this thread, but on this ranking website of Canadian and American schools: https://www.socialpsychology.org/clinrank.htm Concordia comes in 6th place overall, whereas Dalhousie comes in 95th.
  13. Is it worth it to email profs at this point to follow up on your application? Or is it better to wait things out until they (possibly) contact you?
  14. Sure! I'm above the 80th percentile in verbal and analytical as well as subject gre. For quantitative I'm in the 70th percentile. CGPA is lower (~B) due to a double major in science. Last 20 courses I have a 3.88/4.0. 5 years as a research assistant, 4 Years working in public health with adolescents/at risk youth focusing on substance misuse, safe sex, mental health and nutrition. 2 years working in the health field. And I'm 25. Good luck to everyone!
  15. I think during application time we all sort of start to become that person, haha.
  16. The person who got the interview to Waterloo, can you PM me your POI?
  17. Does anyone know how long it typically takes once the applications are in for the profs to start contacting people for interviews?
  18. I feel this so much. I've been working 60+ hours per week for the past 2 months, so now I'm scrambling trying to get research proposals and my scholarship applications finished. Three more days until this nightmare is over!
  19. I don't think it'd be a bad idea to ask her if she's aware of anyone else with similar interests to her that may be taking students. Alternatively, take a look at all of the profs that are taking students and read over a couple of their most recent publications. It will give you a better idea of their current research interests and you can see if any of them even remotely link to your interests.
  20. I figured I would start this thread off for Canadian clinical psychology applicants for Fall 2017. There was a good thread going last year that I think helped a lot of people out. Might as well get it started before the applications are due! Good luck to everyone this year!
