  1. Just spoke with admissions rep at Penn, said decisions are still pending and should be made within the next 2 weeks. So far behind previous years!
  2. Wishing you all good luck this week! Seems like a few schools are slated to put out results. Fingers crossed!
  3. Was accepted to USciences Health Policy PhD program today, with a focus on substance use. No word on funding, but it was nice to hear something back! Still waiting on Penn; a poster on the results said decisions are supposed to come out next week sometime. Wishing everyone continued good luck!
  4. Sorry to hear that! I’m sure you’ll get a favorable result before the season is over.
  5. I applied to Penn, but have not gotten an interview. Seems to be uncommon to get an interview request from Penn looking at the results, but who knows how accurate that is.
  6. Fingers crossed notifications start coming out tomorrow (or next week)! Keep us posted if you get the phone call or email (especially if you hear from UPenn @gandma)
  7. Looks like Berkeley is starting to send out acceptances too. Hopefully we all start hearing back from schools in the next two weeks. Good luck all! quick update on UPenn: had an email convo with the program director who asked me to send a list of my publications with impact factors listed. Took it as a good sign.
  8. Good luck on your apps! Keep us posted as you start to hear anything.
  9. Congratulations! More than likely, it will be a focused around two primary questions - tell me about yourself, and tell me about your research interests. After that, the remaining time will be for you to ask them questions. Be sure to brush up on the POIs research if you know who the interview is with, as well as why you want to do your program at UoW. Also, don’t forget to breathe, talk slowly, and just be yourself. You’re going to do great!
  10. Not necessarily. Looks like blanket rejections come out in early February, with formal acceptances in late February. Congrats on the interview @gandma!
  11. No feedback as of yet; I know the schools I applied to have traditionally not done interviews, and also call accepted applicants in early February before online results are available. We’re getting close though!
  12. Few of us posting in the thread in the social work thread on this topic if you want to join, @DisasterBin.
  13. Glad to see another applicant! Last year there was a lot more activity on social work/social welfare PhDs, wonder where everyone is this year! @gandma I did my MSW at penn (sp2). It’s a phenomonal program and overall penn is a great university. With a research focus on childrens’ welfare, you’ll love it if they end up being where you go. SP2 has many PI’s and research centers focused on that topic. If history is any indication, Penn decisions usually come out in mid-February. Best of luck and keep us posted!
  14. I saw that one, but didn’t want to hijck your thread . For PhDs in social work/Social welfare, I do think it is important to apply to a few different places. This is my second cycle, and I can tell you that there was a number of highly qualified applicants in the cycle with me last year. I think given that PhDs are funded, it makes it more competitive than say a DSW (doctorate in social work here in the states) that aren’t typically funded and more clinically focused. I know given my experience last cycle (where I applied to one school, albeit an ivy) that I elected to apply to two this cycle.
  15. Good morning all, As I haven’t been able to find a thread for this cycle’s applications for PhDs yet, figured I would get one started so we could keep each other updated as decisions start coming out over the next few months. Background: 2nd cycle applying. Experience: 162 V, 154 Q, 4.5 AW; 3 years research experience ; 3 first-author publications, 1 second-author, 1 fourth-author, 4 publications in review; 11 invited conference sessions; 2 poster sessions. UG GPA: 3.96; Grad GPA: 4.0 Research focus: behavioral health disorders and recovery; tech and digital media as predictors of substance use disorders; linguistics and implicit bias towards substance use Where applying: UPenn SP2 (social welfare); USciences (health policy) Anyone else out there applying this cycle?
  16. Decisions out from UPenn. Not offered acceptance. Good luck everyone else!
  17. Nothing as of yet - still waiting patiently. Still hopefully the timeline of releases this week is valid. Good luck all.
  18. Sorry to hear about the rejection to Berkley - looks like a wave came in today. Hope others heard better news. The wait continues (but this is likely a sign that most other programs will start coming out this week as well). Good luck all who are still waiting.
  19. Haven't seen/heard anything as of yet. Keep hoping for the phone to ring with the 215 area code for Penn :D. Good luck!
  20. Congrats on your first acceptance! If you are willing, do you mind providing your profile (pubs, GRE, research experience), and also if it was admissions director or a POI that called you? Still keeping my fingers crossed on Penn as I would prefer to attend there, over Columbia.
