    Hey everyone!
Created a gradcafe account just so I could share in the anxiety
if you were thinking you had it bad with timezones-- I'm in Europe right now! I've been stressed about this since 3am EST, even though I logically knew no email was going to come in the middle of what is night for NY offices
    It's now 9:45pm, it's been a full day of non-stop anxiety
    ahhhhh!!!!!!

So I just read an email from my campus representative that helped me fill out my application. She said I'm considered! I guess they get notice before the applicants do? Good luck to everyone else!

In a moment of serenity in what is to be a ~completely anxious~ afternoon, I realized that our love for research and the disciplines we're apart of will carry us far beyond today's outcome. The work we all want to do, regardless of whether or not we can through Fulbright, is necessary and important. Especially now! Best of luck y'all, I'm sending positivity!

You guys i discovered the best way to subvert anxiety over waiting to hear decisions .... get the norovirus! I just made it through two days of being super sick and now I'm like, oh yeah, Fulbright emails today. (Then immediately fall back asleep...)

Just wanted to let everyone know that my FPA just reached out to tell us that Fulbright results will be emailed to us tomorrow directly from the Embark/Fulbright program.  So I guess I can stop obsessively checking my email for the day?

Gunna plan my exercising around the email tomorrow so if it's bad news, I can drown my sorrow in the leg machines. Either that or take a sad-nap. One of the two.

Thank you so much -- it is my first time applying and I appreciate the  sense of community I've gotten from posts like these. I feel fortunate to even be an applicant among a group of such humble thinkers.

Found the exact place I got this, it was actually in the 2016-2017 thread:
If you follow dosto's link and poke around those subsequent webpages, then you can find the link I posted.

I was browsing the Internet and I feel like I found a photo that describes our potential wait perfectly. Lol!

I felt like the last part of last semester went so fast, but since January 1st I've been obsessively checking my email lol. I know it's not going to be there for a bit yet, but I can't help myself. I'm really hopeful and excited, but I'm also scared to get my hopes up. Even though the semester just started up again, I feel like this is my biggest source of stress lol.
Hopefully less than a week guys!!!! I'm rooting for all of us!!!

Yeah I know - in theory, I agree that learning the language is a commitment to something that could never be a waste. Unfortunately, it's also a BIG commitment (and privilege) for a working adult trying to pay rent, and one that isn't logical if I won't have the opportunity to go to the Czech Republic with a funded grant. For me, the language learning PROCESS isn't fun or a passion - it's the application of that language that makes it worth it. And sadly I wouldn't be able to afford a trip to central Europe on my own (at least for the next few years) to actually use the language. It's not like Spanish, which is common in the States and something that could be maintained.
If I am going to the country, I'm fully prepared to put in the time and effort. But if not, I'd honestly rather be putting that sparse free time and effort into the gym, photography, spending time with my boyfriend, etc.
Thanks for the Italki tip - I'll look into it! I've got a number of language learning platforms lined up, but it's a bitch and a half trying to find quality Czech resources.

Sometimes science proposals and other researched-based proposals can argue a sense of urgency that the arts cannot, and I think that sometimes gives them priority. For example, people studying the melting rate of glaciers in certain areas have a strong case on why they need to go to those areas as soon as possible. It totally depends on what the science and art proposals are, though. I'm sure yours is very compelling!
