Hi! Just got an email from Duke saying that the decision on my application is made, but I could log in to their self-service center... anyone got news from Duke?

I looked at the results board and found that Harvard used to notify all their admitted applicants within 1-2 days. Hope they'll do something different this time... I've been only admitted to UNC, and am still waiting on Michigan and Chicago (which I suspect has already rejected my application) apart from H, P, and NW. In retrospect, I should really have applied to more schools. Leaving myself with too few options was a risky move.

I am also waiting on Harvard, Princeton, and Northwestern. I know the first two would be long shots, though... May I ask what your top choices are?

Congrats! And seriously, I don't think you need to apologize at all. This was your first post and you deserved to be treated in a polite way, even though you had yet to learn about how PhD admissions work. Outright assuming that you were being pretentious (simply with your "pretty confident" sentence), from my perspective, is the last thing that a prospective sociologist should do.

Congrats too! It was by email with an official letter in PDF format. I was awarded a 20k stipend (plus free tuition and healthcare), and they indicated that other fellowships might also be available.

Has anyone not yet heard from UNC? I checked my app status and there was no decision for me...
