  1. Ahhh darn, March 21st! Are they doing groups? I don't think I have seen a single person with the same KGI date.
  2. Congrats!! I got mine today too, when is yours?
  3. University of Arizona's website says "Notification of On-Site Interview: Late January 2018" So, fingers crossed we hear today
  4. I believe Keck Graduate Institute is accepting applications until 02/01.
  5. I just realized I said 01/04, I meant 02/04 haha. But yes they did have some technical difficulties. Applications were due 01/01 but the application portal closed on 12/31. Colorado reopened the portal and extended the due date to 01/02. So hopefully that one day extension doesn't cause too much of a delay in hearing back from them.
  6. Colorado sent out invites on 02/04 last year. Their application due date was a few days sooner this cycle, so I would say the same date or a tad sooner.
  7. I have worked with two genetic counselors who have had this happen to them. They were wait listed at a program one year and then not even an interview the next. It made me a tad nervous when they told me this because I only interviewed at one school last year and I would be pretty devastated if I didn't receive an interview from them this time around. But the good news is that those two are now genetic counselors, so they survived the process despite being rejected by places that wait listed them the year before. We still have hope haha.
  8. Last year I believe UCI's application was due the Feb. 1st because I turned my app in on Jan. 27th and it was considered on time. So hopefully this means that UCI will be contacting applicants sooner than last year! Which would be fantastic because I didn't get contacted by UCI until late March last year and that waiting game was awful.
  9. I have sent them numerous emails and they have never replied. I called the number listed on the program page and they returned my call within a few hours. If you aren't having any luck with emailing then I would definitely try giving them a call.
  10. I am a second time applicant and I was worried about the same thing last year. As I was applying to programs I was also applying to jobs and internships. If the job or internship is related to genetic counseling they are pretty understanding if you are still waiting to hear back from schools. The job I am at now I interviewed for before knowing if I got into a program. It is a good idea to always prepare for backups!
  11. So, I have just finished up my undergrad and have received a C in Biochemistry (I have taken it twice). How heavily do you think a C will count towards an admissions decision? Is it worth taking again? If so, does anyone know of any relatively cheap, credible online biochem courses? I have been doing some research into online courses and noticed there are a lot titled 'Principles of Biochemistry.' Should I be taking a straight up Biochemistry or BioChem I course, or do you think a "Principles" of Biochemistry course will suffice? Sorry for all the questions!
  12. Have people still not heard back from UC Irvine? I know at this point it's not looking good, but I just want to get the official e-mail. I know people have tried contacting them about the issue, but has anyone received a response?
  13. Hey everyone! I am a little late to the party, but better late than never I suppose. I am currently an undergraduate senior at a small school in Rhode Island. I am majoring in both Applied Psychology and Biology, with a minor in Human Resource Management. My current GPA is 3.46 and my GRE scores are mediocre at best (152 V/151 Q/4.0). Not a fan of standardized testing. I have been a volunteer at a domestic violence shelter for a little over a year now where I work the hotline. I am also employed through a caregiving service for children with special needs. I have only been able to shadow one genetic counselor that was unfortunately a one day event. My extracurriculars are a little underwhelming, but I am a D1 athlete and most of my time has been consumed by that. Non GC related hobbies: sports (Go Pats), cuddling with my dog, and I'm currently on a Gilmore Girls kick I've applied to: BU, Brandeis, Michigan, UPitt, Rutgers, CSU-Stanislaus, UC Irvine, University of Colorado-Denver, Case Western (impatiently waiting to hear back from all)
