I got some very similar language in my original waitlist notification from UNC in February. I've been in touch with the department chair (AmStu) and she said she'd let me know as soon as she can if someone declines their offer. I'm still hopeful if it's any consolation

The vast majority of MA programs are unfunded, so the fact that they're giving you money suggests to me that they think you were a rather good applicant who, had this cycle been less brutal, would've been accepted into the PhD program. I think that's very good news! Congrats.

I received a call from the DGS at BU this afternoon---I got into their American Studies program! 

I still haven't heard anything and I am about ready to pull my hair out. I think I've been checking the UT MyStatus website roughly 50 times a day. 

Good luck with that. It might be a delayed response. I am going to send them a nice email thanking them for the offer but declining. 

I was accepted to Yale's American Studies PhD! Got an email from the DGS which was very nice and included funding info. I applied to study the history of the US far left, especially looking at radical use of space and at the construction and use of alternative infrastructure.
Though I thought the program was a good fit I really was not expecting this, it's my first acceptance anywhere and I've gotten a few rejections. I had come to terms with the fact that I wasn't going to get in anywhere this year. So excited!! Hasn't really sunk in yet. Still waiting to hear from Cornell's History PhD, which is the only program I haven't heard from that I might consider over Yale.

I also received my rejection from Brown this afternoon. I removed my name out of the from the applicant pool at U-Penn's Africana Studies Program (had an interview with them earlier this week) and pulled my name off of the waitlist at U-Michigan's American Culture Program. However, I ended the selection process early and accepted an offer from the University of Delaware's Interdisciplinary History Program (5 Years of year round funding).

I've heard from heard from half of my eight schools (one waitlist, thee rejects). I totally get the desperate need for one full on acceptance. I'm handling it poorly. I'm trying to find comfort in the waitlist and trying to plan for a worst case scenario future where it doesn't pan out this year. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm a 19C/20C American food studies person playing thematically with gender, capitalism, and national mythology. Applied to UMinn (rejected, royally fucked up by uploading my Michigan statement ughhhhh), UMich (rejected), UNC-Chapel Hill (waitlisted), UT-Austin, GWU, Harvard, Yale, and Brown. Wishing I'd applied to more programs and feeling extremely uneasy about the future.
Congrats to those already admitted (you talented bastards!)!
