  1. I know that Georgetown does have an official waitlist, I was on it last year, but they're sort of majorly terrible at communication in that I literally never heard from them again
  2. I'm not on the waitlist to be accepted but I am on the waitlist for a TA position at UNH. They said I'm 4th on the list, so it's not impossible but I'm not feeling super hopeful. And without the TA position I won't be able to afford to go so I'm feeling panicky.
  3. I know UNH is sending out at least some MA acceptances today, so if you don't already have your MA you may be hearing from them shortly.
  4. Has anyone else heard from BC?
  5. Yeah I know, things are just a little weird to me because I had originally applied for Spring admission (and ultimately deferred to Fall because of funding, though for them deferral is not automatic admission just consideration again) and heard from the department several days before I heard from the Graduate School, but this time I haven't heard from the department at all.
  6. Has anyone heard an actual rejection from BC yet? I just saw that someone posted in the results forum that they contacted the department and were told their application had been forwarded to the MA program so I'm wondering if it's likely that's the case across the board or not. Unrelated - how long should one wait between receiving an acceptance and contacting the program to ask about when funding information will be coming? I heard back from a school - but not the department itself yet - and so have heard nothing about the TAship I applied for and like. I'm not a patient person by nature so I'm never sure when is appropriate to just ask such things directly.
  7. Not gonna lie I read this and immediately started laughing. I'm sorry you're cold.
  8. I would also pick place A. Between funding and consistent placement they seem like the better place over all and like you will have more opportunities there. If they fund visiting day for everyone they accept I would guess that they also have substantial travel budgets for their students to go to conferences and the like. Quality of life is important though. If you visit place A and feel like you could never live there, it's not like you couldn't decide to go to place B instead. But place A sounds like the better choice academically and career-wise.
  9. Anyone want to claim that Harvard acceptance?
  10. It's possible. Until we know for sure I think we'll all be holding out that tiny bit of hope. But according to previous years timetables rejections should be going out any day now.
  11. Right there with you guys, and the anxiety is killing me
  12. @ProfessionalNerd that's amazing! Congratulations!!!
  13. Well that actually makes me feel a bit better, that they spread their calls, I didn't know that/notice that, like all hope is not yet lost (I'm hanging on to a very very tiny bit of it but lbr I'm fully expecting for it to be crushed). I know exactly that feeling, like always thinking like you applied because you believe in yourself and that you're good enough and yet at the same time being like lol yeah right
  14. You should definitely feel free to say where, you're allowed to be proud and excited! Plus the only recent over the phone results are Princeton so I kinda just assumed anyway. Also, same Caien, like hot mess doesn't even describe it
  15. Thanks guys, this gives me a little bit of hope. I'm definitely going to look into UMB. As for BC, I know they give $10,000 scholarships to a number of MA students but do you guys know if they ever offer full funding/TAships or packages that cover more than that?
  16. I tried but the neither professor was able to, when they tried it said 'Recommendation Portal closed.' And when I called the grad office because both insisted they had uploaded the documents months ago, and I said like 'alright well I'm gonna try and figure this out' or something, the woman on the phone literally said 'yeah don't bother' which basically crushed my soul. They both say that they did and they've never let me down before so I don't know. It just majorly sucks. And no I don't have an MA, and while I would love to get my MA at BC I don't think they offer funding to MA students? and I can't afford to go to grad school without funding.
  17. Found out yesterday that two of my recommenders didn't submit their letters for one of my applications (but did for all the other ones which is how I missed it) and I spent half the day literally sobbing. I did all that work and paid the ridiculous amount that the application and transcripts and test scores cost just for my application to be thrown in the garbage. And then got my first official rejection today. It's goin' great.
  18. Yeah I don't think this is a waitlist situation so much as a they don't care about notifying rejections in a timely manner situation. Like I'm obviously gonna have that little bit of hope right up to the end (which sort of makes it worse?) but that's not really what I think is happening here.
  19. Honestly I haven't heard from anywhere and it's freaking me out more than a little. I had emailed UConn last week about some supporting document stuff, their portal said stuff hadn't been received that definitely had been, and they emailed me back today. The email ended with "Please check the Hobson’s site for the committee’s decision with the next few weeks." Like I know people have received acceptances and you're telling me I'll hear within the next few weeks? Like if you're rejecting me just let me know, making me wait weeks is massively not cool.
  20. Same here! For both Princeton and Harvard! And for everyone who hasn't heard back from schools that have already sent out some responses. I'm a little panicky about getting all rejections but I'd honestly rather known than not.
  21. Not only does it already exist, we are required to use it to apply and they have to use it to access our applications, it makes no sense at all to send responses through the postal mail. It's also ridiculous that programs wait so long between sending out acceptances and sending out rejections; if they're just gonna send a form letter anyway it's not like it would take much time.
  22. Honestly it's killing me. I only applied to 5 programs, partly because I kinda thought that would be fine but mostly because applications are super expensive. I've heard from 0 of them, but BC, UConn, and Brown have all sent out at least some responses. It's been at least two weeks since some BC applicant heard, so I'm assuming it's an implied rejection but I don't KNOW that, you know? Like I can't help but hope and that's what sucks because the longer it goes on the more down on myself I get and it's just gonna make getting the formal rejection that much worse. I don't really have another plan, like I deferred my acceptance to a MA program but I don't know if they're going to offer me the TA-ship I would need in order to do it, plus it's one of those programs where deferring is just like submitting the application again and waiting to hear, again. I hate waiting.
