Wish I knew this earlier . They must have changed it from previous years because last I checked they required either it or a similar test like the MCAT.
-
I looked into them and found that the major differences were: UVic = online program, no GRE required UBC = renowned institution, GRE required I choose neither in the end

@WaitingforAdmission I received an offer by email on March 22nd.
-
@hchan @heidiwind1, I received an offer from U of A health promo MSc in late March.
-
@Teochew I learned how to sell ice to the Eskimo and I was set. I have no experience in public health, I can take just about everything I've done in past few years and pitch it to them as if these are skills that transferable. Talk to a career counsellor about creating a cv that highlights this and you'll the idea will become very apparent if its not already. e.g. I land sponsorship for a charity event through awesome proposals, speaking in front of large audiences, and great applications. These skills could easily be applied to a public health research context for grant applications or addressing audiences. Research experience - volunteering and paid 4th year thesis volunteer manager for yearly community charity event and other volunteer stuff in community awesome references that you work closely with and maybe did more than just take a class or two with them See career counselors and they'll have shape up your cv and letter of intent

@Tahnin, I wish you luck! I'm sure good news is around the corner.
-
@Tahnin, it would make sense! Prospective students will reject offers and the schools will then give them out to the wait listed students who are next in line. To my understanding, programs usually have a limited number of seats they can give out.
-
@wiffle, I did. Thanks!
-
@mphalberta, The email was sent by the graduate programs advisor connecting me with my prospective supervisor. Cheers,
-
@mphalberta, Yes! Just an email, I haven't looked at their application website since I applied. I was surprised I got it cause I have not yet sent them any of the supporting documents that they requested. lol

@Mph17 For McGill and Alberta, I believe I'm expected to maintain the requirements based on my admission (minimum overall, graduation, etc..). No specifications about final semester expectations were given.

@yegMPH Health Promotion

Hey guys, It looks like Alberta is sending out offers for admission. I just got a letter of acceptance into their MSc. program! I won't be taking it as I have already accepted elsewhere but just thought I'd keep you guys in the loop! Cheers
-
Congrats to everyone who just recently got accepted to a program!
-
@L G, yes I accepted my offer and paid my deposit. I only applied there and Alberta, didnt even wait to hear back from UofA. lol @Motog@j12356, yes the deposit is 300$.
-
@dee722 Congrats on your offer!
-
In case anyone is interested, @j12356 has started a topic for mph admissions statistics in Canada.
-
Apparently McGill doesn't have these stats for the public but was given some info to to put things into perspective: 2017 McGill: 1. well over 200 applicants 2. approx 40 offers for seats
-
My whole undergrad was student loans. Ive decided to apply for some scholarships now that I'm going into my masters. Really banking on a bigger scholarship. lol
-
Also Alberta and UBC would be cool too!
-
@j12356 I'd like to see one of these for McGill! Can't seem to find anything though!
-
@j12356 Congrats! Let me know if you take up the offer. Cheers
-
@kobr, from what people have reported, it sounds like McGill is the only program so far that has sent out offers; I believe they had an earlier deadline and imagine the others will come out over the month of March. I also applied to UofA; although I accepted my offer for McGill already, if I hear back from UofA I'll keep the forum posted!
-
I thanked mine in email, but we have great relationships and are still in communication as they are either supervising my work or I am doing theirs!

Did anyone hear back from Canadian MA programs?
abbyecrt555 replied to Ikari Gendo's topic in Philosophy
@Ikari Gendo Not quite an MA program, but I received an offer from McGill's MScPH program early February. Other candidates have also been getting them since then too. Just a guess from others' offers, but I think they might sift through candidates' applications and send out offers for favorable candidates in waves. Their admission deadline was Dec 16, 2016. Hope this helps. Cheers
