  1. As another first year student I can confirm: we were all very happy to get extra money!
  2. Lots of us got extra funding kinda as a surprise (UTAPS is kinda confusing at this school TBH)
  3. realize this is coming pretty late on my part, but I also felt that way. I got into DAL and thought "ok guess I'm going there cause UofT and Carleton won't accept me" and then I got into both of them
  4. I got accepted to Waterloo last year and they sent out acceptances REALLY late
  5. If you've taken econ in undergrad (like if you took a major or minor in econ) then it should be fine for you. It's mostly the speed at which the course moves which makes it really challenging for people who don't have econ experience.
  6. I got into Carleton last year (accepted UofT but it was really close). I didn't have ECON either but Phil (guy in charge of admission etc) said doing summer courses at a Toronto university (as long as it's cleared by them beforehand) was totally fine and a more ideal option than doing econ during your MPPA (I don't know what your situation is though, and it's definitely possible to do econ in the fall). He also told me that I could do online courses (easier for scheduling) and sent me links to Athabasca University. Anways, I would contact them and let them tell you in detail what options you have. Regarding econ more generally (and UofT specifically) if you've never taken econ before it WILL BE (probably) really tough, I speak from personal experience. If you are able to, regardless of what school you end up choosing, I would highly recommend taking some sort of econ course(s) over the summer (physical or online) just so that you have some basic knowledge going into the program you choose. Anyway, good luck and feel free to message me for any questions you might have about the process or UofT specifically!
  7. For people who got into Uoft MPP, when is your deadline to accept? (Curious cause my application is still "under review" and I don't know if that means I'm wait-listed, just bumped, or whatever...) My deadlines for schools I got into (Dalhousie and Carleton) are very soon and I want some sort of timeline cause the web sure ain't helping. Also, has anyone applied to the Waterloo MPS program, and if so, when are acceptances coming out/are they out already (I have no clue) Thanks
  8. I applied to the MPA Program at Dalhousie (and got in yay), It was one of the schools a reference of mine (who graduated the UofT public policy Program) recommended I apply to. Honestly, finding out detailed information about courses etc is pretty difficult cause their website is brutal but I've talked to people over the phone (admin people) and they seem really nice, the program is small (45 people) and people I know in Public Policy programs right now say it's a good school. They also have a 100% placement rate for summer internships which they value at $12-15,000. It's also more management based (I am not 100 sure but that's the vibe from the courses they offer). It's a good school for sure though.
  9. Why do they do this? Why do they lie to the good people of the world? WHY???
  10. First round admissions go out March 10th (tomorrow eep) http://publicpolicy.utoronto.ca/programs/master-of-public-policy-program/mpp-program-admissions/
