  1. Totally agree Kaspara! Yes. Actually, I spoke with Tabbatha in person today (she's so nice! love her :p) and she said specifically it wasn't 21 business days; it's 21 days, period. Also, if anyone else is taking the micro/macro economics course requirements over the summer and are graduating this term, do NOT delay your graduation, otherwise you will not be able to start the program in the fall.
  2. Hey everyone! So I had applied to Munk, GSPIA, NPSIA, UofT's MPP, and Queen's MPA. I got offers from every program, but, after spending the past two days in Ottawa touring campuses, I think I'm going to have to go with NPSIA! Best funding, better co-op opportunities, a fantastic department on a very comfortable campus... I think it's the best fit for everything I'm looking for and think I'll be starting there in the fall! I'll give it a couple days to sink in before accepting anything, but to anyone on waitlists for the other programs - there's at least one more spot opened up there. Looking forward to meeting people at NPSIA! (And I'm not on Facebook, otherwise I'd join the group!) Congrats on all the new offers while I was gone!
  3. That's interesting, I keep hearing conflicting thoughts on the two as well. IMO that's the most difficult part of this decision, is that all criticisms of the programs seem to be word of mouth; there aren't a whole lot of professional studies or comparisons about which program is better in which area. I really don't know who to believe anymore!
  4. Also got an offer to UofT's MPP with about 3k funding. Which, given the 20k I got from NPSIA and the lower cost of living in Ottawa... looks like there's a spot for someone else to open up.
  5. I have the same thing, so I'm assuming that means the credits for your first... year? Which would be full-time, 5 classes (half-credits) per semester? Does that sound right?
  6. Considering that their various internships are either unpaid or not 100% covered by funding, while eye-opening, I feel an internship would be too big of a financial burden if money's a concern. Also, both programs have what seem to be pretty good co-op options which are not only paid but can provide just as many networking benefits as an internship. If you had the funds on your own and wanted to work specifically in an embassy, I'd say go for it, but 'internship' can be a pretty dirty word. I'm leaning now toward NPSIA because they've given me better funding and I like the specialization I've been placed in more than GSPIA's, but I'm going to go view both campuses this week and make a decision after then.
  7. Just got my official NPSIA offer as well! 20k for both years with a TA position. I thought for some reason I had opted out of positions, but I'm glad I'm not! I'll take any help I can get. Anyone have any insight on what the TA position might be like? Never been one myself but I'd be happy to as long as it isn't so strenuous on top of studies.
  8. I will have to, I think, if I go for NPSIA (which I'm leaning more toward atm). My university also offers online micro/macro summer courses; I figured I would take those, but I'm not sure if I still can since I've already applied to graduate after this semester...? :x I'll probably have to have a chat with my school and with Carleton I suppose!
  9. No, domestic. So 6k from GSPIA would cover almost all the costs of tuition, but I have to find my own accommodations, so anything that can be used towards food and rent would be helpful.
  10. I haven't gotten the official offer yet, either, bit worried about funding as well... Fingers crossed for the both of us <3 After tallying up living expenses, the 6k/year from GSPIA doesn't look so great...
  11. Awesome, congratulations!! Boy do I feel bad for these admission departments, they seem woefully understaffed
