  1. Martizzle, it was Columbia, but it is not the last. Frankly, I am not expecting anything, so I guess I'm just waiting for confirmation to get a permanent job.
  2. Congratulations, pizzapie! Happy for you!

  6. Just got my latest rejection through the system. Not surprised, and at least they were very polite.

  9. Wow! That's a great one! I'm sure many of us would be rich from that if it came true!

  16. I'm actually cool with mad professors, I guess. I actually had a prof in London who ate glass as a party trick! He actually used to taste a bit of every chemical that his research students ordered (no wonder he died of liver cancer)! It's just the way it was put...
  17. Eeps! You make the place sound absolutely terrifying!
  18. Yeah! It's great to know that there is still hope!

  23. I think you probably have to think about why you are doing your grad school. If it is to get into academia, check the placement rates of graduates from the safety schools. If they get decent jobs (not teaching in DeVry or Phoenix), then I guess it is okay. Doing a PhD, and then discovering that no one in the field will take you seriously is just a waste of time. In that case, then you are better off waiting another year to get into a brand-name school.

  25. I'm sorry to hear about that, Allport (1954). At least there is still the waitlist. Keep hope alive.
