  1. I go to Chapman! Overall, it's great. At this point, I can't imagine myself at a different school. The professors are very helpful and there is a large variety of clinic practicum experiences you can have. I'm an older student and I will say I don't think it's the best school for an older, "non-traditional" student, as most students are in their early to mid 20's. That has definitely been a little tough for me as it's a cohort model and everyone is in their own little social group. That being said, everyone in my class is really nice and supportive. We are on a separate campus from the main campus, which is kinda nice as it's easy to get to classes and such. The second year is a pretty busy schedule with clinic during the day and then classes until 9pm, which is often exhausting. But we get a pretty in-depth training and supervisors and employers have been really impressed with our education and skills. I'd love to answer more questions, but I unfortunately am not on this site much these days, for obvious reasons! Good luck with your decision, everyone!
  2. I was accepted too and have already committed to attending! I cannot go to the open house but I know a lot of great information about the program and fell in love with it. Feel free to message me for info!
  3. Thank you, everyone, for the replies! These were all such good points but I actually ended up not running. I'm already doing a ton of extra-curricular speech things that I really care about, so I don't have a lot of time, and I didn't feel like I was running for the right reasons. But I will keep this in mind in case I decide to run next year! And I hope this information can help someone else in the meantime!
  4. Hi all, Our NSSLHA elections are coming up, and I'm thinking of running, but I'm wondering how much a role in NSSLHA sways graduate application committees. Is it seen as a huge plus on an application, or does it not really matter to them? Thanks!
  5. Portland State University values older students and/or out of field applicants.
  6. I'm currently a post-bacc student at PSU. They have an excellent employability rate (100%), and are well respected by SLPs in the community. They have stated though that it is harder for them to place students in medical externships, and they do not have a medical SLP track at the moment. However, there is a professor that specializes in dysphagia that also works at OHSU, so you could contact her for more info: https://www.pdx.edu/sphr/deanna-britton-phd-ccc-slp-assistant-professor.
