  1. Hi, Yes I did! I am still deciding between ISD and KMIM as of now. I've done a fair amount of research regarding Mcgill's MI course vs UofT's before finally picking one, and I would definitely suggest you to choose UofT.
  2. Hey wheatGrass, would you know of any decent apartments/residences in these areas for around 800$ ? I've tried looking it up on kjiji and craiglist.ca but haven't had much luck yet as most of the apartments are close to 1200$, if not more.
  3. @Spzr Thanks for the information. I was speaking with an alumni of UofT MI program and he mentioned the same thing. However, even he wasn't sure if everyone gets to choose the co-op option since there are multiple interviews and stuff.
  4. Yep, I found some really great apartments on toronto's off campus housing website. But again, I guess it's just too early to look for an apartment right now as most of the postings are for subletting in summer. However, I did find fully-furnished apartments for around 850-900$ per room. Some of the landlords have agreed to put me on a priority list. Will probably check again with them in june.
  5. Oh you mean it wasn't promoted that much or only 30 students get to go for a co-op? Also, if suppose you take the 8 months co-op option, do you have to pay 1200$(co-op fees) PLUS the tuition for that term? Does anyone know anything about this?
  6. @Nick.lb Downtown, toronto is ridiculously expensive. The residences affiliated with toronto - parkside and campusone are really great but around 1400$-1600$ per month. There are plenty of condos and semi-furnished/furnished apartment about 20 mins walk to campus for around 700-900$ . As frannyt and spzr mentioned earlier, if we look for an apartment further away and not just in downtown, we might be able to find a good deal.
  7. @Spzr @Taylorski @Supratim Chakraborty Oh I guess it IS too early to start for me then. I'd be moving to Toronto in August. Should probably start house-hunting some time in June? I was just worried cause alot of residences around UofT have already started filling up pretty quickly.
  8. @frannyt Being an international student , the difference in Mcgill and UofT's tuition is about 30,000 $. Which is why I am trying to figure out if UofT's worth the extra 30k. Which concentrations are you guys planning on taking? I'll probably go for a double concentration ISD and KMIM. Also, I don't remember choosing the concentrations while applying ? @Spzr Thanks. I am yet to figure out the residential scenario. This is just too much effort haha
  9. Thanks! I have read tons of threads and talked to several people but I really don't understand why people only look for jobs in the city where they have done their masters from? you could always apply for jobs in toronto after studying at McGill. Is it cause of the networking aspects ?
  10. Thanks for the help. I did a bit of research at my end , and I think I am gonna go with UofT . I really suck at learning a new language and it'd suck to not get a job after masters cause of the language criteria haha so yeah. And for the stats - I had a 4.0 GPA in my undergrad and close to 1 year experience as a Consultant. But I have some friends who got acceptance with a much lower gpa and no experience, cause their SOP was pretty good (atleast that's what they say). One of my friends got a reject from UofT last year , but got admitted to UT,Austin. So you never really know what is it that they consider. Have you tried reaching out to the admissions counselor (Andrea). She is quite helpful and almost always replies on the same day. Let me know if you need her email address.
  11. @Spzr Are you guys planning on staying on campus or are you renting an apartment outside? I was thinking of going with the former in the first sem, and then move out next sem. I'll be coming to Toronto some time in August. What do you guys suggest?
  12. Hey, I did exactly the same thing. I requested them to consider my application earlier cause i'll be considering offers from other colleges accordingly. They forwarded my email to the admissions committee and they got back within a week or so with the acceptance. You would probably want to follow up with Andrea next week in case you don't hear back
  13. I sent them a couple of follow ups and got similar replies, which is why I am a bit paranoid about the admit at Mcgill. Anyway, I was considering McGill as my first choice too , but it turns out the companies there prefer people who are bilingual since Montreal is essentially french-dominant. Is that true?
