  1. UNCG has sent some acceptances. I have a friend who was accepted about 4 weeks ago.
  2. eauclare is correct, the MFA is the terminal degree in Studio Art, although a few schools have tried to introduce a PhD without much success. The DFA is an honorary degree, not a real degree. Check the art faculty at your current institution and you will see they all have MFAs unless they got a PhD in another field.
  3. Just practice, practice, practice. Then when you interview just be excited to share yourself with the faculty. There was a great list of interview questions from a few years ago which is an excellent resource.
  4. You could definitely use your cyanotype pieces in a painting portfolio. It's best to think about what history, discourse, or expanded-field your work relates to the closest. Your cyanotypes exist between photo, painting, and craft histories, but your established body of work is clearly painting. In regards to the question if lack of consistency is viewed as a weakness or strength, it really depends on the program and how you write about your work. Personally I like to see evidence of experimentation and growth mindset, rather than someone that thinks they have everything figured out.
  5. Most strong MFA programs will not be heavily discipline or media specific. Some require you to apply with a particular designation, such as "sculpture", just to make sure they get a well-rounded group of people, but then if you show up and paint for two or three years usually no one cares as long as the work is good.
  6. For relationship you could include mentor, advisor, former professor, etc. I'm not sure about the other schools, but I bet they collect that for analyzing competition more than affecting their admission decision. I could be wrong though.
