  1. Yep, I heard back and wasn't accepted. I kind of knew I didn't have enough experience so it's all good -- looking toward next year. Good luck!!
  2. I just saw on the results page that someone received their acceptance to the 2 year program. No word for me yet -- not looking great. :/ Ah well. Next year!
  3. I haven't heard anything yet either. Soo, still no news! Keeping hope alive, haha. Happy early birthday, @lonepinecone!! I can't imagine being taken off the waitlist in September! Good lord. I only applied to PSU this year but I think I might apply to some other programs for next year if this year is a wash. I know someone who is doing a counseling program at George Fox but the programs there didn't look too appealing to me either. I'm hoping to do the clinical track as well, @anthurium. And if you get the CWSE certification you can at least practice and earn something of a salary while you're pursuing licensing. Luckily I've known and worked with a few people going through that and it hasn't scared me off yet, and they're all practicing as therapists, which is really all I care about. And theoretically there is still student loan forgiveness, if you're working at a nonprofit or a place providing healthcare. I've also been working full-time and then volunteering on the side just because I haven't found anything direct-service that pays enough to cover my bills (and my already large student loan payments.. ). I feel really nervous about that, though -- it sounds like they place so much value on experience and I'm just fretting about whether it will be enough. What did y'all think of the personal statement portion?
  4. Saaame. I decided that if that happens, I'm going to assume I'm waitlisted or rejected just so I can move on with my life and start thinking about next year.
  5. @lonepinecone @Kgroves - Will y'all update this topic if you receive word of decisions today? I know there are some rumors of decisions being issued today so I'm definitely on tenterhooks. If I don't receive anything it'll be helpful to know if they've gone out. I will update as well! Best of luck to you both!! I hope we all get in and that we hear back today.
  6. Nice! Sounds like you have tons of experience. Health promotion is a great field! We had a few social workers doing health promotion along with our FNPs, etc. at the clinic where I used to work. It makes a big difference.
  7. Good idea, @lonepinecone (: I am also losing my mind and driving my partner crazy also. I studied Psychology & Sociology and I've worked at a nonprofit community clinic (uninsured/underinsured populations in TX -- PCMH) and a domestic violence agency over the past 2+ years, but in service-adjacent roles at those orgs (still working directly with people, but employees rather than clients). And I volunteer at a DV shelter currently and I do direct service there. I'm just hoping I have enough direct-service experience; I think that's the one area I'm most nervous about. I'm hoping to do a clinical concentration and I'm really interested in working with people around trauma. But my main goal is to do therapy work. How about you?
  8. Waiting as well -- I applied for the 2 year in-Portland option. The website says " we plan to start notifying applicants of decisions in late March or April" in the FAQs, and just "March or April" on the admissions page (clearly the stress has gotten to me because I've basically memorized both of those pages, haha). Last year it looks like people started finding out around this time, but who knows if that will be the same this year. I remember in a different topic you saying the people you know who applied Advanced Standing had already heard back, @lonepinecone. Do you or anyone else know if Advanced Standing is considered its own separate entity? Their application process is different than the general one, with different due dates, and when I went to the info session back in the summer it seemed like they were slightly separate from one another. Just holding out hope that they receive notifications differently as well. :/
  9. The waitlist is my worst nightmare! I’d honestly rather be rejected, lol. Maybe advanced standing is on a different timeline since they already have some background on the applicants. Fingers crossed it’s soon for the rest of us.
  10. Ahh, it's so the worst, isn't it? Now that it's March I'm finding it even more torturous. I really hope you get in!!
  11. Hiya, I applied to Portland State's Master of Social Work program and according to the website, we can't expect to find out until late-March or early-April. D: Our application was due in December so I'm just wasting away and kind of starting to lose it with the waiting game! Anyone else apply to this program?
