  1. I've been at job talks for a TT position. At many places, these are open and public. The people given them, by necessity, are the final candidates for the TT posotion. If these weren't open, then please do not share the info and forget about my comment.
  2. Could you share, if possible, who were the final candidates?
  3. Now that the cycle is almost over, how are we doing medievalists?
  4. Nice to see CEU (Budapest) consistently placing people in top programs. CEU did really well this cycle placing people in Ivies/top programs in History/Medieval Studies.
  5. Not yet. I don't think is gonna happen. What about you? Where are you going?
  6. I got out of the waiting list at Notre Dame. Hope that helps someone. How's everyone doing?
  7. Medieval history (PhD). You?
  8. did someone get an invite to arts?
  9. Hi, Medievalists. Got offers from Cornell and Toronto (both medieval studies), and I am waiting to hear back from Cambridge on funding. I haven't decided yet.
  10. nothing on my side. I am still on "Awaiting approval..."
  11. Why do all the good Medieval Studies programs/tracks are in dark, cold places? Why can't they be in Hawaii?
  12. any news on Cornell's Medieval Studies?
  13. I am so sorry! Worst case scenario tho, you'll be attending Michigan and that's an excellent program. Not too shabby.
  14. So who's going to Notre Dame this week for the recruitment visit?
  15. How did you do? Mine was less than 20 min.
  16. What do you mean? Are you going to the recruitment visit?
  17. I think we can debate about how flexible programs can be forever. The truth is that specific programs in medieval studies in North America (Toronto, Notre Dame, etc.) won't accept applicants without decent Latin. The good thing is that, as you said, good master programs in medieval history/studies are very flexible about language requirements. These programs understand that the MA period can also serve to polish or improve language skills.
  18. To be completely honest, I don't think you can be a medievalist without good Latin. Also, it's rare to encounter people in the field without reading skills in French, German, and Italian.
  19. how's everybody's cycle going so far?
  20. Has anybody heard from Notre Dame?
