How is traffic around Newark/around the campus area? I have a car but HATE driving haha. Well, I should rephrase - I hate driving on major highways and places that I am not yet familiar with. Fiance and I will be sharing a car, so depending on where he works, he will be having a car most of the time.

Thank you! Won’t officially decide until after I visit and hear from the last 5 programs I’m waiting on. Still holding out a shred of hope for USC English, as it is my number 1 choice, but Delaware is my #2 at this point in the game, so I can’t conplain. -

OH NO. That would be too much of a commute; we plan to live in Newark itself; plan to do on campus family housing. -

I got that same email a couple days ago, and they were super prompt and helpful with answering my questions. Even if accepted to U of Arizona, I will likely decline due to what I have seen from past years regarding their funding; one of my lower tier choices. If accepted to SUNY Binghamton, would also likely reject, but it would really depend on funding (if they can compete with Delaware's generous package!) - hesitance here is mainly due to the economy in Binghamton and the surrounding area, as my fiance will be looking for a job wherever I end up in a program. -

I was also wondering about biking around the area - bike lanes, etc. I have heard the campus itself is great for biking.

Congrats to the recent acceptances! -
I had a friend who was accepted last cycle, but after speaking with their DGS and others in the program, realized it would be a bad fit, so they declined. They got one acceptance so far this cycle (this is my third cycle as well as my friend's third), and it is a MUCH better fit for him than the program he was accepted to last round. Having never been in this position, I don't have any other feedback than go with your gut.

Can these other schools just reject me already so I can say YES to my one acceptance? -

Flight to Delaware booked! Can't wait for March 11-12! -
Hey all! Thanks for starting this thread! 20th and 21st century Americanist here (mostly contemporary) focusing on race, ethnicity, identity, assimilationism. I also like to look at national identity and immigration. I enjoy doing interdisciplinary work that involves politics and history. I mainly work with 20th century and contemporary ethnic American lit.
