  1. I contacted Jessica Moss at NYU. That makes it 9/9 rejections for me this cycle. Congratulations to everyone who got accepted. Time to regroup and try to become better philosopher and candidate for next year.
  2. Same here, NYU and CUNY are the final schools in this application cycle for me.
  3. Just received a rejection to WashU St Louis.
  4. I just received rejection from UC Irvine (Philosophy, not LPS)
  5. Just received a rejection email from CMU.
  6. In previous years, USC should be sending responses out this week too. I contacted U of Miami and asked about App status. I was told the majority of the remaining responses should be going out this week.
  7. Congratulations to everyone who has received good news from a program. So far, I have received one rejection and most of the other schools have already sent out acceptances. At this point, I'm preparing myself for the possibility this might not be my year. I've been thinking about what I can strengthen for next year (better GRE score, stronger sample), but a thought occurred to me. I am a bit older, 37, and I have had a 15-year career in computer science. Does anyone know if that would be perceived unfavorably by AdCom?
  8. I second this. I thought I'd feel a load off to hear something, and it did for a little while. But the anxiety came right back, LOL.
  9. Finally got my first response from a Ph.D. application! It was a rejection from Baylor. Happy Valentine's Day to me, Ha!
  10. I have a question. Is it common for acceptances to be sent out by Professors reviewing the applications and for rejections to be sent out by the department office?
  11. I applied there too, but nothing from them yet. The application portal is down too.
  12. Anyone else stuck in limbo wishing they at least got a rejection letter? A rejection would at least be an acknowledgment that my application was looked at!
  13. Congrats on the acceptance. I applied to Miami as well but looks like it wasn't in the cards this time around. I spoke to the Department Chair a few months back and he mentioned they would not be accepting very many people this year because they accepted a large number of applicants last year.
  14. My writing sample was quirky and a bit of a risk. I jumped into the debate in Moral Psychology between the proponents of character-based and situation-based accounts of moral conduct. I propose a definition of 'moral education' that should be acceptable to proponents of either view and then argue that interactive digital media (video games and simulations) could be used as a tool to teach moral lessons by either side.
