Well, my grad school application process is over... I am going to Miami University! I was FINALLY notified of a decision from University of Washington yesterday. They rejected me, but I'm honestly just glad I finally found out.
I just wanted to thank everyone on here for helping me through this process -- I haven't been the most active, but reading everyone's posts has been so helpful. Good luck to everyone!!

Is anyone going to BU here??
I ended up declining their offer. I just couldn't do it with no funding :/
It's definitely disappointing-- Boston seems like a great school.

Rejected from Temple via the application portal. They never sent a notification to my email-- I just happened to check it this morning.
Edit: Forgot to say-- I still have not heard from University of Washington. They said applicants should know by late March, but.... I dunno. Probably delayed rejection.

Got accepted into Boston University (moved from wait-list) on 3/28! No funding offered.

Has anyone been accepted into the University of Washington for Painting + Drawing?

Just declined my PAFA offer, so there might be an opening if anyone here is on the wait-list

Same here! I haven't seen anyone else comment on their program either, but their faculty seems great. Have you visited the campus at all?
Yeah, I actually went to visit this weekend! Met some grad students and had lunch with faculty. They are great, and the campus is beautiful. There are so many forest hiking trails around the campus which is nice because I paint outside a lot. I'm most likely going there, and I'm excited about being able to have so much one-on-one with the faculty.

still haven't heard anything either, so i guess there was a delay or bad news. not entirely sure. it's taking a reallllly long time though.
Yeah, it sure is taking a while
When I interviewed, they told me decisions would be out by March 1st -- so I'm thinking there must have been some unforeseen delay.

To all the people who interviewed with Boston U for painting:
I emailed them yesterday, and they responded to me today. They told me that they are finishing up their decisions and that letters will be delivered via email within the next two weeks. So this means either they didn't send out any physical mail acceptance letters or that I didn't get accepted.
I'd be interested to know if anyone has received anything yet

Hey Boston U peeps! Heard anything today?
43 minutes ago, AngryHarold said:nope. i think they sent out letters via snail mail yesterday, so i'll probably hear tomorrow one way or the other.
Nothing yet. I sent the department an email today asking when I should expect to hear back, but I haven't received a response. I didn't think about the possibility of them sending physical letters. Hmm.. I'll keep an eye on my mailbox (digital and physical)!

I was accepted into Miami's MFA in Studio Art program yesterday! I haven't decided for sure yet, but I am thinking I'll be going here in the Fall.
Anyone else here going in the Fall?
Can anyone tell me a bit about current apartments/areas to live?

Has anyone heard from Boston U after interviews?
Not yet. I asked during my interview when I should expect to hear back, and they told me their decisions will be sent out by March 1. So hopefully we will hear back today or tomorrow!

What is the average timeline like from interview to notification?
I received an interview invite from Boston U on Feb. 2, and my interview was on Feb. 22. They are going to let me know their decision by March 1!
I can't say for sure that this is normal because it's the only interview request I have received so far. Hope this helps!

I haven't seen anyone else talk about Miami University, but I figured I would go ahead and put this out there-- I got accepted with a full tuition waiver and a TA position with a stipend!

I am a BU senior painter, I asked my professor and he told me that all the interview emails have already sent out, if u have not heard anything, probably have already been rejected. I am really sorry!!
I have an interview with BU for painting-- do you have any tips or suggestions? This is my first time applying to grad school, so I'm not exactly sure what to expect. I just want to prepare as much as possible!

I'm located in South Central United States, and I only applied to schools on the West and East coasts. I'm right there with you--I definitely cannot afford to fly out for interviews, so i'll only be able to do them over Skype. I would be more than happy to fly to all the schools if I could, but I just don't think it's in my budget :/
The only school I've heard back from so far is Boston University, and they asked which I would prefer (in-person or Skype). I chose Skype, but I'm hoping that it won't negatively impact my application :/

I've heard from Boston U and received an interview in painting. Anyone else bummed about IU Bloomington not taking painters?
As a side note for anyone looking for last second apps to send out, the MFA at the program where I am for my BFA (Edinboro University PA) is still open until March and is a great figurative painting program. Faculty includes graduates of Yale, SVA, BU, Cornell, Syracuse, NYAA and Berkeley. Guaranteed tuition waiver+ GA with stipend. It's really unheard of which I think is a shame.
Also still open for print, metals and sculpture.

Congrats on the interview! I have an interview with Boston for painting too!
YES, I am so sad about Indiana... It seems like a great program.

I've heard back from Boston University so far! They reached out to me to schedule an interview. This is my first time applying to graduate schools, so I'm pretty excited-- although I don't want to get too excited for just an interview

Hey! Just randomly saw this, and thought I'd respond. Take this with a grain of salt, though - I am fresh out of undergrad, and just got accepted into grad schools for this Fall.
So I started researching grad schools when I was a sophomore in undergrad, and my "top" schools changed monthly. Your'e probably already doing this, but keep in mind that big name schools are great and all, but the school needs to be a good fit for you specifically.
I applied to 5 schools (details in signature below). Personally, and I guess I am biased because I accepted the offer, I would heavily consider looking at Miami University in Oxford, OH. Their program is small, so you'll get a ton of 1-on-1 time with the professors who are all pretty great. Look up Dana Saulnier. He's a tenured professor of painting there. The campus is pretty large, but based in a very small town (the campus is basically the entire town). However, it's honestly so beautiful. The town definitely has its perks, and it feels like a true college town (bars, coffee shops, etc.) Each grad student gets a huge studio space (closed ceilings & door that locks). Honestly, the best thing this program has to offer is the financial aid - I think it depends on the current size of the graduate class, but every grad student gets full tuition remission, a stipend, and a TA position for both years. The teaching experience will be extremely valuable to me because I want to eventually be a professor.
If I were applying next year, I would also look into Indiana University (Bloomington). This was my top choice, but unfortunately their applications were closed for this upcoming Fall because they were renovating their painting facilities. They should be done with construction by next application season, though. I definitely recommend it - their faculty are fantastic (look up Eve Mansdorf & Tim Kennedy)
Also: not really sure about how much they offer for funding, but check out the University of Washington. This was another one of my top choices, but they denied my application. The painting faculty are great there.
Let me know if you have any questions! The application process definitely took a lot out of me, so I'm happy to help others with it!
