So, my fellow Penn-hopefuls, I emailed Penn two days ago and asked them whether interviews had been completed/all the calls sent out. I have received this response— a great sign. Hope, that indefatigable bastard, lives!

No other way to use a Comp Lit department if you ask me. 

Ugh. Probably shouldn't have spent most of my SOP talking about how one of my professional goals is to have a Comp Lit department serve as the launching point and ground zero of a Maoist insurgency...

Thanks, @DatGuy! I won't repeat exact information for the sake of discretion, but they asked the kind of questions you'd expect from a short interview. No grilling. My advice, and this goes to anyone who's given a brief interview, is don't think too hard about it.

Sorry. I don't really know if they have sent out all interview calls. But as someone earlier said the request gave only short notice (I received the request only one day before the interview), I think there probably still hope. 
 

Congrats to both you guys above! YTC, did he mention any reason why/do you know if they are still sending out interview calls? Any information would be helpful!

I know this has nothing to do with you guys, but since I used to be a Comp Lit hopeful and lurked here, I must inform y'all that I got into Rutgers's French Ph.D! I can hardly believe it, I should wait until I have actual emotions to post. Currently I'm in a smiley-cloudy-whut state of mind!

Glad we could help! Here's hoping to good news for us. Penn's program really is fantastic.

I'm unsure. I do think they interview all applicants, but, seeing the results from last year, I'm also noticing that they split up their interview call ups. Some people were given an interview on Feb 5th, and others on Feb 9th. So it's likely split this year as well. All this to say: not all is lost! 

Hi guys! I am so excited to see Comp Lit' people on here! Have applied to Penn, Chicago, Ann Arbor, UT Austin, NYU (English), and UMN. Received acceptances from UMN and Ann Arbor thus far (was 'datguy' who posted the first Ann Arbor acceptance on the list). Excited to hear about the other schools, but mostly Penn, really. Penn and Ann Arbor were tied for my top choice when I applied!
