  1. Is it considered common for people to choose which school they’d like to attend in the final week before the April 15 deadline? Both the programs I’ve been accepted to so far have their events in the first week of April, and I would prefer to make my decision after visiting both, but I also don’t want to keep a slot open for someone who might really want it in the school I won’t be attending.
  2. If you guys puzzle it out could I ask to be PM’d what you figure out? I got it too but I’m abroad with only my phone so I haven’t gotten a chance to look very well.
  3. Normally I’m not one to be impatient but man I wish UCB and USC would get a move on already. Those are the two programs I’m most excited about but are definitely implied rejections for me but I also don’t want to start planning things out until I have a definite answer so I’m stuck in waiting purgatory
  4. The update just went through for me! I haven’t looked yet but go check! #fellow comrade in purgatory
  5. Thank you for volunteering as tribute brave soul If more than one of us got it then odds are it’s probably bad news but I hope otherwise!
  6. Not sure if this is the right thread for this but I just got an email from UCI to check my admissions status and nothing on my application page has changed, I’m on mobile though so I figured I’d ask if anyone else got the email or has the same issue
  7. I am with a focus in queer theory, 2a/2r/6w so far, but most of those 6 are anticipated rejections. It’s a pretty populated field or so I’ve been told.
  8. Worries: I've heard back from 3 schools, 5 of my other 6 have started sending acceptances so I'm taking that as an implied rejection meaning I didn't get into any University of California programs, which is what I was hoping for, and I'm not sure how that'll reflect on me in regards to 'placements' and whatever program I come from Excitement: Like I've heard elsewhere, you only really need the one acceptance, so no Round 3 for me
  9. 10 AM and 9:15 AM for acceptances 3:45 PM and 2 AM for rejections (automated) All schools are PDT If I had to guess, acceptances will be in the morning to mid-day since a person has to send them, and rejections are whatever goes
  10. I'm studying abroad in the country where 2 of my 3 letter writers came from so I'll probably bring back some food items that can only (easily) be found here. For the other letter writer, probably some tea or coffee from the region. In the humanities, tea and coffee is always a safe bet, right? ?
  11. This is my second cycle around and at this point if I don't hear from a school within 3-5 days of the first result being posted on the board I take it as an implied rejection That way if it isn't I can be pleasantly surprised, lol (Your mileage may vary)
  12. Duke: Feb 21-23 UC Boulder: Feb 28-March 1 University of Alabama: February 28-March 2 Washington University in St. Louis (WUSTL): February 28-March 2 U Wisconsin-Madison: March 3-5 Illinois (Urbana): March 4-5 Stanford: March 6-8 Northwestern: March 7-9 Saint Louis University: March 8 UC Santa Cruz: March 14-17 Kansas: March 17-19 Vanderbilt: March 21-22 Rice University: March 21-23 UT Austin: March 28-30 U Oregon: April 4-6
  13. More of a general question, but is this (2nd week of February) around when people start hearing back if they’ve been accepted? For some reason I keep feeling like this is earlier than usual but I don’t know why. Either way if anyone could shed some light on this so I know how to time buying a gallon of ice cream
  14. Just got the acceptance myself! First school I’ve heard back from so no idea if I’ll accept. Congrats to you too!
  15. Got my UCSB rejection too, it’s down to just UCR and I’m not too optimistic about that given cohort information. Time to think about next year!
  16. UCSB seems to traditionally notify late if the surveys say anything. Maybe this week...? I’m confused too! Maybe the pre-1900s people they admitted don’t lurk here? I’m kind of apprehensive about those wait lists though seeing as I’m also post-1900s American/modern lit
  17. That’s exactly what happened to me, I think last week Thursday or Friday. Someone else on the forum reported that theirs was still checked (the submitted box), and I know mine used to be checked before it became unchecked. The mystery deepens.
  18. I get the feeling, someone tweaked something on my application last week so I’m perpetually checking my app for any sign of another change. I don’t know if it was you, but someone mentioned UCR was deciding tomorrow- would that mean the acceptances go out tomorrow or during the weekend?
  19. Next week, saving the best for midterms week I see Well, I guess it’s time to sit and wait and hope for the best then. Thanks for the update!
  20. UCR is stressing me the heck out too. Someone in an acceptance thread said that UCR was waiting to hear back on their budget before sending out wider acceptances, so I assume until they hear back we won't be hearing head nor tail of acceptances or rejections... which means we'll probably be hearing back at the end of this week, seeing as tomorrow is a holiday.
  21. I know we’ve had some UCR acceptances, does anyone know if they’re done or just sending them out slowly?
  22. 20/21st American (also mostly contemporary) with some occasional wanderings toward Woolf and Japanese/Japanese-American lit
  23. I haven’t gotten an email either and someone who got an unofficial phone acceptance hinted that official UCI results might be sent out today. Fingers crossed for the both of us!
  24. Not really an application-debilitating typo but a personal typo happened when I was trying to select which of my papers I wanted to use for my writing sample. The criteria for one of the schools was 'a 10-12 page paper written for a literature class' or something of the sort. My reaction: "is comparative literature class a literature class?"
