Oh that's great to hear! Thank you

Hi @ParentandGradStudent !! Thank you so much for weighing in I've sent in the application for campus housing. I read somewhere on this thread that the spots fill up pretty early (mostly on the day registration opens), although that was for the family housing units. Would you by any chance have an idea about the availability/competitiveness of the shared apartments?

Formally accepted UNC-Chapel Hill's offer -
Hello! I'll be attending UNC-Chapel Hill this fall. I'm coming from South Asia. I'm not sure if this has been discussed earlier, but has anyone lived at/has some info on the on-campus graduate housing: its location, costs (in comparison to off-campus options), availability of amenities, safety etc? Any other info about the general experience of living there would be great too. Thanks!

Congrats @Cassifrassidy !! -
Thanks @punctilious! And I'm really happy for your husband's Harvard acceptance. Thank you for rooting for me, @M(allthevowels)H !! That waitlist notification was my first positive response in an otherwise crummy season and I guess that showed. This is my top choice anyway, so couldn't be happier! Congratulations @Noire et Étrange, that is amazing!!

Congrats @sarahchristine and @northwestnative !!

@E. Coronaria and @hopeleslie !! Congrats to you guys!! I'm waitlisted at UNC-CH too! Fingers crossed for us all!

Hey! I don't have any info on CUNY, but just wanted to say I empathise SO much with fear of the immediate embarrassment part! But then I think that had it been a friend/family member in my place, I know I wouldn't think any less of their intelligence or abilities. So maybe others wouldn't either Maybe we just need to be a little less harsh on ourselves. Especially since the PhD would often be a lonely and exhausting experience. Gotta keep the self-love alive!

Waitlisted at UNC-Chapel Hill!! *cartwheels across the room* -
Hello! I have exactly the same questions. This past couple of days, around 3-4 of my schools have begun sending out acceptances (UC Davis, SB, NYU and Indiana Bloomington) but I haven't heard back. So if anyone knows whether they send out acceptances all at once, or in batches (esp since most have been sent out via phone calls), please let a fella know. The waiting game is stressful no doubt! Also, huge congrats to all those who got in

Congrats on Ohio! That's so great :D I hope you get through. I won't be able to make it for the visit days either, travelling to the US would be too expensive. Plus I cannot take such a long leave of absence from work. Oh wow! Penn State is awesome!! I haven't applied to any of your schools though. Applied to NYU, Indiana Bloomington, UC Davis, UC Santa Barbara, UMichigan, Notre Dame and UNC-Chapel Hill.

Hello This is my first time posting, although I discovered this forum right after finishing my apps and I love the positivity and support the people here exude. I am also an international applicant, from South Asia, and I'm worried about all the things you both have mentioned. Another added worry is that this would be my first time living away from family. I live with my parents, and this is kind of a big leap. Also, I live in a tropical, extremely hot place, and many of the schools I've applied to are on the East Coast or in the Midwest and the thought of winter, actual winter, scares me. I also completely relate to feeling inadequately prepared as compared to the other applicants. The post-application season began well for me, with two interviews, but its been radio silence since then, and even though both schools will take a while to release their results, the wait is making me paranoid. Plus, several other places where I've applied have begun sending out decisions and I haven't heard back yet, and its so hard to not assume the worst. Congrats on the acceptance @bigfluffybearcat !! And good luck, @BlessMeWithSnow , I really hope the application season turns out well for us all.
