  1. Any DPhil news at Oxford, or just BPhil/MSt/etc. so far?
  2. They aren't. Thanks, though; I appreciate it. With 167+ on both parts of the GRE and almost all As in my MA program, I guess my writing sample must have just been really bad.
  3. Well, I dropped out of a top law school to do a philosophy MA. Not sure I will be switching to "some other graduate career path" at this point either.
  4. It's easy for me to start planning my life. I'm thinking about what I'll do when I finally get the rest of my rejections and look for a career outside philosophy.
  5. I audited a class at Brandeis while at Tufts and can confirm that Hirsch is both friendly and involved and that he is an important figure in metaphysics.
  6. Congratulations, and congratulations to those accepted. Another one to add to the "Definitely rejected (inferred)" list.
  7. I didn't find classes in my MA program to be terribly difficult. I did better in them than I'd done in undergrad philosophy classes. While it's true that some professors will want an extensive engagement with the literature, this is by no means true of all professors.
  8. Congratulations, Sophia. Apparently Notre Dame agrees that you're bae. Guess that means there's no reason to expect the next wave of calls to follow.
  9. Why would Notre Dame call two people and then stop? I'm going nuts.
  10. A decade ago when I was an undergrad who liked continental philosophy (those days are long gone), I asked around about the New School. Never once heard a good word about it.
  11. POI, un professor I'm a loser baby So why not reject me
  12. Only the one ND call? Hardly the wave I was expecting. I might have to stop refreshing and actually accomplish something.
  13. Congratulations! I regret not applying there. I really like Stathis Psillos.
  14. If I miss this wave I think I will probably figure I'm getting shut out for one reason or another and start thinking about another way to spend the next few years.
  15. So maybe next week for acceptances? Is this the first year that the rejections came out first?
  16. Any predictions for who we'll hear from this week? My dream: Monday, Notre Dame; Tuesday, UNC; Wednesday, Princeton; Thursday, Oxford; Friday, NYU.
  17. Would really love those Notre Dame acceptances and waitlists to come out this week. UNC wouldn't hurt either. And (of course) NYU, Princeton, and Oxford.
  18. Having joined this forum on Friday, I just received some sort of automated prize for "best content" for February 25th due to the number of likes I received from you all. Now I can no longer say I didn't get anything out of this process.
  19. I'm applying to PhD programs with a Tufts MA and good quantifiable qualifications otherwise. No offers yet. Not clear to me how much better prospects it would offer you than NIU or any other program.
  20. If that's a real Harvard waitlist, I guess the rest of us can expect rejections coming pretty soon.
  21. Given that the rejections were dated 2/23 but sent out early this morning, there may be something strange going on with their system.
  22. That's awful. Do these people have no memory at all of being on the other side of this process?
  23. I had to register for a new website, including going through a whole new password process with something like three different confirmation emails, just to view my USC rejection. Absolutely absurd. This process just humiliates you over and over again. They can't even just attach your decision in an email like civilized people.
  24. I still have only two actual decisions out of fourteen applications. Is anybody else this low?
