  1. @Jhair Congrats!!! Are they funding you through a TA or RA
  2. Hello, This post is to vent really about anything
  3. @iota7 I dont know if you can change the offer the best way is to email the university to find out but I you can always ask professors if they have grants and what not. Other universities do not have access to the information related to other institutions and their offers. I would email the university and state that you clicked on the acceptance by mistake and have not yet made a decision on if you want to attend or not. What I would do is not accept any offer until April 15th unless you get into your dream school with funding but I would wait unitl April 15th because people will decline offers and the universities will then send out more acceptances
  4. @iota7 I think they may decide before they sent out an email. You may not get funding from the school but what you could do is find a POI that you like and see if they recently have gotten a grant and then ask for an RA position or something usually funding is up to the student I believe. It also depends on the university.
  5. @sirTintin Thank you for the information!!! Did you have to sign the contract after that?
  6. @becs_granola Did the offers mention GEM at all? On egem it will pop up stating that an employer has selected you, I hope someone contacts you soon for an interview
  7. @laveritecestla ah okay. Congrats on getting an associate Fellow by the way!
  8. Hello, Please post what program and why you are choosing VT. Also would be nice if you have been to the area to mention some fun thing to do
  9. What are your thoughts on Virginia Tech PhD program in computer science in general..
  10. Has anyone heard from Purdue?
  11. Does anyone know if the funding given through the university is independent of GEM?
  12. @jpp5108 I would email the schools that you applied to ask them when you should hear back from and also ask for an extension from the school with the deadline
  13. Hello, So I was accepted to a top 50 graduate cs program according to csrankings. Is this a high enough ranking for a pursing a PhD or should I continue with my Masters at a top 25 school and hope for a higher school next year?
  14. So I have been accepted to a program and they did mention GEM in the letter, so then my question is if a school accepts without funding then are they offering you a GEM Fellowship? Since the school has an obligation to fund you?
  15. @Y_TheScientist I would think so, it is not over until you get an email saying so!
  16. I dont know if this helps but maybe at STEM career fairs you could meet some of the recruiters and mention that you applied for GEM and see what they say?
  17. RIP another rejection lol
  18. RIP another rejection letter
  19. ah okay @LetsGetThisBread that makes sense, I have not I only been to one I did not know they held them every friday
  20. I have a question so when you self report the "Congratulations you have been selected by a university" appears at the top but has this happened to anyone that has not self reported and the school just updated egem?
  21. In order to become a GEM select did you have to get accepted by a program and an employer? I am currently selected by a company and just waiting on the results about admissions.
  22. University of Washington sent out rejections on the 4th
  23. Should email them now about RA/TA and see what you have to do. Also do you know if they sent out all of the acceptance or just ones without funding? I hope I get in but it may be another rejection. @iota7
  24. @Manifestin2010 So I am selected by an employer and I am worried that I will not be able to get into a program. So far I have been rejected from one program out of 6... Can universities that we did not apply to reach out to us through egem?
  25. I think University of Washington sent out there results!
