  1. CC or email the director kokuda@hunter.cuny.edu. It's not a requirement to meet with the advisor. I asked my advisor if we could he said because of a time it is not necessary. Who is your advisor?
  2. Hey there is a facebook group it's HCSSW entourage. It's a private group so you do have to answer questions to be in the groups
  3. Hey guys! So I just came from advisement. Registration starts May 16. You can find your time on cunyfirst. And pre orientation is June 14 and 21. Orientation is August 21 and 22. These are the dates for the 2 year program.
  4. I finished all the steps. Has anyone heard about orientation or field placements? I was told we register for classes May 15 but nothing about orientation
  5. Hey I would accept the work study. As you said any kind of money helps. I’ve heard work study is on campus and most jobs are really laid back so maybe you’ll get lucky and get a good job placement
  6. Hey! Congrats on getting accepted to both schools!! I decided on hunter mostly because of the money. I submitted my commitment deposit last week. I received a similar scholarship to you for NYU. And the cost of the msw program at hunter is one year at NYU. So NYU is double the price of hunter. For me the debt isn’t worth it. If you’re going for a clinical track hunter still has a great program.
  7. Hey! It took me almost four weeks to hear back! I kept telling myself no news is still good news to not go crazy while waiting. Hopefully you hear back soon.
  8. Ask yourself what is making you stuck between the two schools? And what is more important to you money or the program? I was accepted to both schools and decided on Hunter because of the money. What you will pay at Hunter for the whole program is what you will pay at NYU just for one year and maybe even more. So NYU is double the price. I was even offered a pretty good scholarship, $17,000 and NYU is still too expensive for me. I asked NYU for me and they said that's the most they give. For me being in that much debt for NYU is just not worth it. Hunter also has a really good program so I don't believe you will be missing out on anything academic wise. I have also spoken with people that have gone to NYU and Columbia and they said the debt was not worth it. It's a lot to think about but hopefully this helped.
  9. I think they just wanted to know how you see yourself and how you relate to others that have a different social identity than you do. That honestly was a tricky question. But, just be yourself and answer honestly. They say there's no right or wrong answer
  10. They finally got back to me on 4/13 almost 4 weeks later and was accepted! I told them during the interview and whenever i called that i needed a response asap which was true. I don't know why it took so long for them to get back to me.
  11. Yes I will! It was my first choice I guess we will keep each other updated on the date for student orientation.
  12. The wait is finally over!! I was accepted to Hunter!!!!!
  13. Did anyone that already attend an interview just get another email inviting them to a group interview?
  14. Hey i wanted to let you know how my interview for Lehman went! i felt a lot better with this interview and its less intimidating. they asked 3 questions: what are you doing right now (like with school or work), what is a policy or procedure at your school/work/volunteer site that you would like to change, and a what if situation. They also made us write. But, it wasn't reaction to an article like hunter instead they asked us to write about why we're pursing an MSW. They also give you alot of time to ask questions. And you're interviewed by the admission director and the director of the program. They did say they are a really small program so they have a cap on how many students they can admit and that they review applications on a rolling basis. So if you really want to go to Lehman i would give the admission director a call. She's really nice. I can give you the phone number if you want
  15. They ask 3 questions and have you read an article and react to it. The questions are: tell me about yourself, what's your social identity and what do you do when you meet someone that doesn't have the same social identity as you, and to say what would you do in a what if situation. The interview isn't hard. I just felt like with the questions they asked they didn't get to know me.
  16. I have a 3.8 GPA, 1.5 year of peer mentor experience for a counseling program at my school, and 1.5 year experience of being a college coach for a non profit. I also started a full time job as a service coordinator for early intervention but started it after submitting my application so i didn't get to write about it in my essay but i spoke about this experience at the interview. I'm not too worried about my stats since I got into NYU and Columbia and have an interview for Lehman. But, I don't think believe i did that great on the interview which seems like they weigh more heavily than anything else.
  17. I applied to clinical as well! Hopefully I hear back soon
  18. I definitely will! Lehman was the last school I heard back from. They’re really slow. When did you apply to both schools? Also pay attention to your because Lehman calls instead of emailing to schedule the interview and they call on a blocked. Lehman did tell me that they review their application on a rolling basis. So if you submitted it later that might have been why. I also think they started doing interviews really late compared to hunter. What track did you apply to for hunter?
  19. Thank you. I'm going to call again tomorrow. But, I feel like they'll just tell me the same thing. I've been accepted to NYU and Columbia but they're just so expensive schools that I'm scared of being in debt forever. And I have an interview for Lehman college tomorrow. But honestly Hunter was my number one choice. Are you going to go to Hunter?
  20. Congrats!! Currently still waiting. I’m giving up hope honestly
  21. Yes I did. They said they were going to tell the director I'm waiting. Which they have said before and nothing has happened. I asked why people are hearing back in two days and its been 3 weeks I haven't heard back. And she said that their application and qualities might have been stronger. She said if I don't hear back on Monday to call again.
  22. They asked about 3 questions. Why social work? Whats your cultural experience? and to to discuss what ifs scenarios?
  23. This is my timeline: my application was submitted 2/4/2018 and it was completed 2/7/2018. I received an email for an interview on 3/1 and scheduled the interview for 3/7. But because of a snow storm it was rescheduled for 3/19/2018. I haven't heard back yet. It seems hunter is very slow with everything unfortunately.
