Hey I was wondering what creditials are needed for most media studies phd applicants? Do programs typically care if you have media industry experience (I.e. news/tv/magazine)? Or are they more concerned with research experience and test scores. This particular major has been so difficult to find information on even when reaching out to faculty and current students at universities.

Lol my thoughts exactly....waking and seeing all those damn rejections is killing my anxiety. they need to hurry up and let us know already for every department...I wish they would just get a standard decision notification date for all departments like they do with the deadlines to submit applications when we applying

Looking at the past years it seems like American and African studies released notification between Wednesday’s the second week in February until the Friday of the third week in February..so I’m guessing we should all know more than likely by Friday this week hopefully... -

I saw some posted for a bunch of masters program applicants and literature/biology PhD applicants last week and this week ...however I’m not sure if those literature and biology PhD applicants who posted their results this week were invited to that little webinar. -

Has anyone who received the invite for the Yale webinar last week received an update notification regarding their application status yet stating whether they were rejected or acceptanced at this point? I’m just curious since I see some people who didn’t mention the invite have already already posted their results. -
Is this for the masters programs only or both masters/phd?

How important is reaching out to potential Advisors
kp_87 posted a question in Questions and Answers
Hello, I’m currently in the process of applying for PhD programs. I’ve been reaching out to professors that I’m interesting in having as my advisor during the programs. However, I’m noticing the majority of them don’t have time to respond back through email or even meet me in personal to discuss the program. So my question is how important is it to meet/talk to the potential person you want to advise you before submitting your application? Can it negatively affect you if you choose someone that you never actually spoke to before or do majority of applicants get accepted without actually expressing interest in the program to potential advisors? -
What inspired your research agenda topic for you dissertations? I'm currently applying for a Phd programs and just curious to about how most people decide on a precise area or topic to focus on during their Phd matriculation. Do most people know the topics they want to explore during the application process or do most people narrow down their ideas after the first year in the program?
