  1. I applied to my Master's before I have my undergrad completed and was accepted. I finish my undergrad in April and start my Master's in May. It was a conditional offer on receiving a letter from the University where I am completing my undergrad stating I have completed my requirements for graduation prior to the start of the program.
  2. Laurier does not send acceptance by mail, only email and Lori's.
  3. When you select the Master of Social Work under the admissions tab the acceptance letter shows up instead of the list of documents that you have submitted.
  4. Those of us who were accepted to Laurier were for the May cohort not September. Hope this helps your anxiety:)
  5. Thank you so much
  6. I was accepted into Laurier's may online cohort. My stats are: Completing my BA in Child and Youth Care in April. Currently my cumulative GPA is 3.93 (4.0 in my last 10 courses). I have been working as an educational assistant for the OCDSB since I got my diploma in Child and Youth Work in 2010. For the last 2 years I have been in an alternate high school program for First Nations, Metis and Inuit students, but I have also worked in mainstream classes and spec. ed programs for students with behaviour and mental health diagnoses. I also spent 4 years working for the special needs department of the City of Ottawa parks and rec. I have worked in and then run therapeutic rec programs for children with behaviour and mental health diagnoses and programs for children who are on the autism spectrum. My placements were with a semi-independent housing program for justice-involved youth and a day treatment school-based program for young people with mental health disorders.
  7. No problem!
  8. No it is an email only and then you accept on Loris. You have 30 days from the day you get the email to accept the offer.
  9. I have done my undergrad completely online and will doing my MSW the same way. I had access to all the writing and academic supports that are available to on-campus students over the phone or by skype. I'm assuming the same would be for graduate programs.
  10. From what I understand, because it is a part-time grad program the only way to get the funding is to first apply to OSAP. I may be misunderstanding, but it seemed all the internal scholarship options were only available to full-time students.
  11. Hey, My Loris has updated now because I got the official email from fgps. I guess the one last night from our enrollment advisors were just to let us know we were in.
  12. I am confused by what you are saying maybe because I'm Canadian and we have a different system here. My advice though was to accept your admission offer rather than putting it off. I know you are worried about debt, but waiting another year won't change your financial situation much and at least when you finish school you will likely get a higher paying job which will make it easier to pay off your loans. If you decide to move back to your hometown you can apply to transfer schools then, but don't put off something that you want to do on a maybe. Does that make more sense?
  13. I think it is a decision you have to make for yourself. Ask yourself though if putting it off will solve the debt issue if you don't end up moving back or will you just have an extra year to worry about money at a lower pay rate (not to mention another year if the stressful waiting for admission letters( If you do move back you could always apply for a transfer to the other school.
  14. No mine isn't yet either I got an email from Dilyara. Congrats to you too. Looking forward to working with you.
  15. I'm in too for the 2 year program
  16. I was told advanced standing applicants would all be informed first and then they would move on to the 2-year program applicants. Knowing this has not stopped me from religiously checking my email every 10 minutes since I saw the post last night saying they had started accepting students.
  17. Hi folks, Since I know several of us are anxiously awaiting admissions emails from Laurier for the online May cohort I thought I'd start a thread just for us to support each other through the wait, especially since the wait is always longer than they say it will be.
  18. Before the holidays someone on here said they had emailed their enrollment advisor and the automatic response said that admissions emails would be sent out in February or March.
  19. Fabulous Thanks for letting me know. I figured it wouldn't be on time, but that's already 2 months later than I was told. How much later will it get in the next 2-3 months?
  20. I totally get it the wait is making me crazy too. I also applied for the May online cohort at Laurier (2 year program). When I submitted my application I was told I would be informed December-January. Has anyone heard differently? I know they tend to be late. Thanks.
  21. Student services was definitely not there before, but has also been added in my account.
  22. Hey Emily, When I first spoke to Dilyara after submitting my application she had said December-January, but by the end of our correspondence it had changed to January-February. Based on previous cohorts it is only likely to get later. The stress is real
  23. Hi everyone, I found this forum and figured it may help me with the anxiety of waiting. I applied to the MSW online at Wilfrid Laurier starting in May. As a mom of 3 with a full-time job it is my only option so all my eggs are in one basket so to speak. They told me I would hear in Jan or Feb, but after reading other posts it sounds like they are consistently late. Considering how crazy I am already going, I'm not sure I will make it :P
