  1. Kudos to everyone who make their voices heard ^^^^
  2. seems clinical invites should've been sent out by jan 15th, but for social it'll be in next few weeks? this poster wrote -> "I reached out to the admissions department regarding a timeline for social’s interview invites. They told me that interviews should start rolling out over the next couple weeks, although they did not have an exact deadline."
  3. didnt apply because from conversations last summer, AW might be the only one from UVA social whos gonna recruit. could be wrong, but wanna let ppl know
  4. Just want to give a s/o to @Regression2theMean, who went out their way to provide advice/support during these trying times. The waiting game is definitely difficult, and I felt a genuinely sense of alleviation after reading this and taking the perspective of faculties. Wish others can gain a sense of equanimity and get good news in the end
  5. agreed with @behaviorisweird on zoom/phone for the first rounds and in-person being crucial for housing/logistic steps... but seems everyone is doing a virtual "visiting" day for covid. Maybe a virtual tour? like the ones you do when you drop a pin in google map and get street view, but with more guidance/sharing from students?
  6. also applied to social at unc/duke/UM, not heard back from any at this stage.
  7. I applied but have not heard from them either. IIRC it was from dev or clinical program, so I hope it's just due to the different agenda of their programs rather than our applications being stalled fingers crossed
  8. Congrats! hang in there. I'm assuming things could get slow in the next two weeks given finals are just over and profs might take off for holidays (though it might also mean they got time to review our apps).
  9. Heard from a colleague that Rutgers has been extending some pre-interview invites, hope some will arrive soon.
  10. Agreed! Felt so weird that according to many admission stats I saw (i.e. UC Berkeley), clinical and social receive similar amount of application (~600 per year). But the clinical programs just got way more discussion than here.
  11. Saw lots of discussions going around in other subtopic threads hopefully more will happen here so we resurface more often!
  12. That'll be great! It kind of surprised me that everything is pretty much 500-1000 words, gotta condense my thoughts a bit
  13. Some great points above already! Adding my two cents - go through different school's psych dept, and see what all the profs are doing (check on some students' projects too, if you have time). Browsing through their research work often helps me a lot in clarifying my paths. Hope it helps!
  14. Hello! Just saw the clinical/counseling thread and thought to start a forum for all applicants applying to social/personality psychologyPhD programs (app due in Fall 2020)! Working on my list of schools now, hopefully will post that by the end of May. I'm mostly interested in exploring subjective well-being and quality of life, with several approaches currently in mind - psychometrics - how to measure these traits accurately (including cross-lang, nation, culture) and efficiently self-regulation goal and meaning in life emotional regulation and stress-coping (a bit of mindfulness too!) cross-cultural effect I look forward to getting to know y'all, while learning more about these fields themselves as well as deciding which one to pursue (or maybe I dont need to make that decision yet?). Hope this is useful for y'all and good luck to everyone! :)
