Yeah, I think one of the schools I applied to may do that. They require you to put your proposed mentor on a separate line at the portion of your SOP so they can sort them for review.

Tried to log in to a couple of application portals to do a last check on my submissions and two of them were frozen up. People must be overloading all the webpages!

Just a booked a last minute "stop worrying and have some fun" vacation to distract me from this process! Woo!

Two years ago I submitted an application on the 1st of January and got a call on the 4th! You never know! But yes, most likely not going to happen.

I keep fantasizing that maybe they will start looking at applications on Monday and I will get a call by Friday *wishful thinking*.

Yeah, but have you guys gone back to your email to read responses from POIs to analyze each and every character in case you missed something the first time??? ?

If you don't mind me asking, who did you indicate as a POI when you applied to Penn State?

Literally me every morning: "Only X many more days until somebody may look at my application."

UO is in my top 3 for sure. I would SCCCCREEEEEAAAAMMMM if I get an invite!

EXACTLY. Like, I would love to celebrate Christmas and the New Year without checking my email compulsively every 5 minutes and driving my family crazy with my anxiety.

That's definitely a good sign then! Now we just have to wait, ugh. I had emailed a POI that I had talked to by phone after I submitted my application and he/she was like "I'm excited to see your materials SOON", and now my anxiety is over the roof and I cannot chill until I know more.

Oh my gosh. Well at least it was a response?? Silver linings haha

Wanna place guesses on how early phone calls/emails will start rolling in?

If you can, try to call the grad admissions office or the department you are applying to and let them know you uploaded the wrong draft of your CV. I had this very thing happen and 5 out of 6 of the schools I uploaded the wrong version to let me email them the correct draft and replaced it for me. I would start calling now to replace it before the deadline!

I submitted 8 of 12 applications, and then realized I don't think I even want to go to the last 4 and was only applying to so many because I was scared I wouldn't get in to just the 8. So NOW I am completely finished submitting. I'm so anxious I can't stand it and should really pick up a new hobby with all the free time I have now that I'm no longer obsessing over my SOP and LORs being submitted.
