Its definitely a good move. I've even done it after phone interviews. It shows interest and I think it's always a nice touch.

I wouldn't pay too much attention to rankings but would pay more attention to student outcome data. Aside from that, just doing a quick cursory view at the institutions those at my current undergrad institution went to, theres an even mix of schools that aren't in the top 10 but are faculty so I wouldn't necessarily let ranking dictate where you want to go.

I think if its a video interview, it's better to dress up than dress down. I would still were the blazer and blouse and pants to show that you're serious and professional.

I think its entirely up to you. My first interview request was through a personal email from the POI, and I posted the result on the results page (without POI but dmed it if asked). But tbh its up to you. I don't see how it would hurt you though if you posted.

Just had my first phone interview! Some POIs are such nice people! makes me less nervous for any other schools that contact me.

I got mine at literally 11pm (out of the blue am I right?) and felt so awk emailing back at that time because I thought those late emails were unprofessional and they were gonna look at me weird if I responded that late.

Not necessarily. A lot of programs have applications being looked over by POIs who go at their own speed depending on the faculty member; someone may have heard from one POI who received 2 apps vs someone else who received 20 and there can be a delay for that reason (just my thought process).

QUESTION IM STRESSING: if someone asks to reach you to schedule a virtual/phone interview, is that first phone call just to schedule or is it the interview? I need to prepare for this interview and don't want to go into a phone call i think is just for scheduling to be asking me questions already and being the actual interview.

I wouldn't take this as a rejection until you hear from them. It may mean that they've reached their decision on whether or not to extend an interview.

I echo this sentiment I would steer away from emailing them just because it might look bad towards the program you're applying to and they may still be looking at applications and you don't want to look like you're rushing them
