  1. It is! Should I just go up there?? Hahah omg why am I so awkward
  2. Anyone interviewing at u of calgary today, I am super early and chilling in the lobby being weird and nervous. Feel free to DM me or find me ?
  3. I have had/will have: 1: 2 Faculty, 2 Grad Student, 1 Group (Informal with all applicants applying to my POI) 2: 2 Faculty, 1 Postdoc, 1 Grad Student Never had 6 with faculty though!! Are you interviewing with literally all clinical faculty members? Geeze!
  4. Both for sure!! I’m excited for brunch and bowling on Saturday!!
  5. Has anyone else heard back from York for Clinical Developmental from a POI who wasn't neuro-focused?
  6. RIGHT?! Like first of all, I already DID YOUR SURVEY! Second of all, I am expecting a rejection from you so...........
  7. I have heard about one specific PI having completed interviews, but not sure about others. I can't remember if you messaged me or not about it, but if not, feel free to DM me for the PI's name!
  8. I think the reasons they reject vary. Sometimes it has to do with match based on the future directions of the lab, or interest in research vs clinical work, or interpersonal “fit”, etc. I’ve heard of students getting rejected over other applicants because of strange mannerisms even. So it can get pretty hard to predict/idiosyncratic.
  9. Same. Starting to think I should have applied to more than 4 schools and not applied to the whacko competitive ones hahahahahaah ???
  10. Hi! I applied to OISE and can't say for sure that they only look at your last year. You have to meet this requirement to have your application looked at: "A- or better in the final year or over senior courses." However, that doesn't mean they don't look at your other grades/cumulative GPA/psych-specific GPA. I think that your overall GPA gets considered to some extent when they are ranking applicants.
  11. I would wait another few weeks. It's possible they made an offer to another person and are waiting to hear from them. If they reject, then you will take the spot. Just a possibility though... Regardless, I think waiting until mid-February would be best unless you are sitting on other offers!
  12. Thank you so much for your kind words! I know I shouldn't give up on York yet, but it's just getting so close to the open-house that it's hard to not feel discouraged. I knew my research match at OISE was a bit of a reach, but was definitely hopeful for York! Oh MAN I am wondering the same... I interviewed at SFU on Friday and I just can't figure out how people are living in cities like Vancouver or Toronto on such a tiny stipend!? Like am I missing something???
  13. Starting to feel like Toronto is not in the cards for me -- haven't heard from York and am presuming rejection with OISE. Feeling pretty disappointed
  14. I’ll DM you! Yeah I am just trying to move forward and not let it get to me
  15. Just spoke to someone about OISE SCCP... apparently the POI I applied to has reached out to interview all applicants she is interested in. So I’m presuming rejection. Despite the program not being my top choice, it’s hard not to be bummed out!
  16. Thank you!! It ended up going well (I think)! Appreciate the support from everyone on here
  17. Well... i didnt sleep much last night and am all shaky from lack of sleep. Hoping that doesn’t show once my interview starts today ?
  18. I also haven’t heard anything yet! But a few people have been contacted to be invited to the open-house. I believe all of these people were more neuro-focused, so I’m hoping the non-neuro PIs are just slow. Today I am optimistic I guess!
  19. Wtf!! I know some schools are at the mercy of a lot of bureaucratic red tape, but SERIOUSLY, 6 days notice is a joke and kind of disrespectful.
  20. I'm not sure if I understand your question -- are you asking whether students get interviewed on-campus vs over skype are more likely to get an offer? Or just that if you get an interview in general, you're more likely to get an offer? If the latter then, yes, you will be exponentially more likely to get an offer. I think it is extremely uncommon to get an offer without interviewing at all. It does happen in some programs (e.g., school psych programs), but is pretty rare. Edit: Just realized you might be asking whether, at UBC in particular, getting an interview means you're more likely to get an offer. I think this depends on the year -- for example, look at the year where they interviewed 10 but only offered admission to 6. In this year they maybe were expecting an incoming class of 5 max and offered to 6 with the expectation that at least 1 would turn down the offer.
  21. Well.. Going to my first interview on Friday and am suddenly feeling freaked out despite feeling totally calm all week. All of a sudden questioning if I have read enough of my POIs papers, worried I wont have anything original to add to what they are working on, etc.
  22. I'm just curious to know why you want to jump right in to a grad program rather than taking a gap year(s)?
