  1. omggggg that is probably the case with mine as well... haven't heard anything from anyone there but stats us still "under review". Did you e-mail the Grad Program Secretary?
  2. So sorry to hear. I am waiting for this to happen since I know my POI has extended offers already and I didn't interview with her ? Hope the closure is at least somewhat of a relief
  3. Hi everyone, I just declined my offer from SFU, so hopefully a spot is opening up for someone on the waitlist soon! Just thought I would give a heads up
  4. I think they mean they’re just newer/younger (likely not yet tenured). I don’t think it’s the case that only TT professors can take students, particularly since tenure is less common now than it used to be, but could be mistaken.
  5. I know.... I would rather not wait that long before deciding both to ease my own mind but also because it seems cruel to the alternate/wait-listed people.
  6. Wooh! You're right! Thank you for alerting me to this, I dunno why I thought otherwise
  7. Interesting, I was worrying that the tri-council/CGS-M decisions would be later than that and that I wouldn't find out about what institutions I potentially got CGS-M funding for until after the deadline to accept/decline (April 15th). That being said, I don't want to hold on to an offer for a school I am less enthused about just because of that? Ack!
  8. What are the things you all consider most important when deciding between programs and what things are "deal-breakers"? Just curious to see how others prioritize things and make difficult decisions.
  9. On a related note to this -- anyone have any suggestions for when it is appropriate to contact the program coordinator about your status? I'm trying to make some decisions and feel like it would be good to know where I stand with other institutions
  10. I think it depends on the program but I may be incorrect??
  11. Hmm maybe that is what the faculty member that I spoke with was referring to when she told me I was not eligible. I don't think it's all that random though. From those I know of who secured the Vanier, they set themselves up for it pretty strategically during their Master's in terms of leadership and research productivity. I mean, it may not be something that would weigh in to your decision, but is something I personally was/am keen to at least try for. It's $150k...
  12. Yeah, I had searched around to see if there was anything that stated that explicitly but couldn’t find anything. Please do let me know if you hear anything!
  13. Haha, search “Yale” and it should come up! Grab some snacks
  14. I am hoping someone can provide insight into something I am strongly weighting when it comes to making a decision... the Vanier. One of my POIs said I would not be eligible for this award if I stay at my undergrad alma mater to do my Master's/PhD. Is this actually the case, or is it just that committees at individual institutions don't often nominate students who did their undergraduate there but that it's possible??
  15. Welcome! I hope you hear back soon from Ryerson and Waterloo. I did not apply to either, so I cannot speak to those programs, but I did apply to OISE. From what I know, they have (mostly) wrapped up interviewing students they are interested in and will be extending offers soon. Not to say that you won't hear back if you haven't been interviewed yet, but I know that is the case for at least one PI. Hope that helps!
  16. Oh yes, it’s been constant entertainment throughout the day. I’ve come to the conclusion that people have completely lost their marbles on here. Like, I know this process blows, but holy crap do some people need therapy before even starting grad school.
  17. Thank you!! Hoping you get some good news too!!
  18. Wooo! School: University of Calgary Type: MA/PhD Date of Acceptance: Feb 15, 2019 Notified by: Official offer from Graduate Program Admin and POI
  19. Nothing other than that I won't be getting an interview and my POI is likely making an offer to someone she already interviewed. Yay! ?
  20. I would e-mail the Graduate Program Administrator, I think she will handle it or at least know who can.
  21. Woah!! Unexpected timing! AHHHH School: Simon Fraser University Concentration: Clinical Child Psychology Type: MA Date of acceptance: informal acceptance - Feb 11, 2019 Notified by: Personal e-mail from POI
  22. wat is going on?! Can't tell but want to be filled in haha
  23. So sorry to hear :(. I just checked mine and it is also under review like you, @C_Lamoureux. Also didn’t get an invite to interview in-person, but have heard that in previous years, many who didn’t get invited end up with an offer? I’ve pretty much given up on York though as well
  24. I got an email yesterday in response to my “thank you” email that basically said I should expect to hear back “soon”... not sure how soon soon is, but hold tight!
