People are so wild honestly. They must be feeling sooooooooooo hurt right now.

Anyone else just waiting around for schools to get back to them so they can get on with making a decision? So looking forward to being out of this limbo and planning the future. At least I had a snow day from work today and could take Ursula on a nice hike:

I know this may be silly, but does anyone know where application money goes? When I pay $50-125 to apply, does this money go to the university in general, the department, the ad-com???

While they don't do a visit weekend, I asked if I could visit and the dgs said that "she would work it out if I really wanted to attend". I assume this means that if someone was going to accept the offer, they could get funding for a visit.

Thank you for this information. I am really excited to get back to school and re immerse myself in all the current scholarship. Since I graduate in 2015, I have had some trouble keeping up with new developments in the field without access to journals and texts. I am going to try to use this summer to catch-up with how the field has shifted since my graduated. I will keep the sources you posted in mind.

Thanks for posting this information. I was curious since it seemed like it was people from specific concentrations and funding info was still coming. Did you apply with any specific emphasis?

Does anyone here know about negotiating funding? One of the schools I was accepted to says "if you are interested in our program, but have received better offers from other schools, please contact ____". I assume that means they will negotiate funding? Do you think they would want to know the dollar value of other offers?

Absolutely! That seems like an extremely livable stipend especially with the increase after year one. Very generous!

YAy! Hi! I am not sure I will be able to make that offical visit time unfortunately, but I hope to visit sometime in March. What is your field? Also, do you know if everyone receives a first year fellowship? It seems a little unceremonious so I assume it might be something other people get as well. Congrats!!!

In at Urbana-Champaign for their MA/PhD Program!!!!!!!!!!!! It isn't the best fit in the world, but Tim Dean is one of the most incredible queer theory scholars in the country and I am very excited!

It is so great. Without a doubt the foundational text of a lot of what I am interested in. I hope that some of it would apply to French literature as well.

I am interested in blending queer theory and ecocriticsm in the Early Modern period. A new-ish field has emerged around "queer ecologies", but has focused on contemporary sources. I am interested in extending this practice back to Shakespeare and Milton as a way to combat the trans-historical process of 'othering' both nature and the queer body. In terms of early modern readings, Homosexuality in Renaissance England by Alan Bray and Shakesqueer have inspired me a lot.

Just got a wonderful acceptance call from Saint Louis University (MA). They are also nominating me for a Diversity Fellowship which is very sweet news. YAY
