  1. "I don't want to end up having simply visited this world" -When Death Comes What a beautiful soul. So sad to hear the news.
  2. Congrats to the slew of Tennessee acceptances that are rolling in!
  3. There was an acceptance just posted for SUNY Buffalo! Amazing program. Congratulations to whoever that is!
  4. Thank you so much for the response! Fingers crossed!
  5. A terrible mix of The Mountain Goats, queer/straight-edge punx, and 80's/ 90's post-punk
  6. Congrats on the acceptance!! That is amazing. Does anyone have any insight to how the admissions decisions roll out? For example, I applied to UIUC for their MA program. The deadline was the same. Does that mean I should be worried if I don't hear back soon from them? Also, generally speaking, will their be an email or portal update first? My portal for them still says awaiting decision right now.
  7. Yep!!!!! I was expecting to hear back from my first school last week, but they pushed it back another two weeks. Two weeks seems like forever, let alone two months until all the decisions are in!
  8. Congratulations!! I can't wait to hear how it goes
  9. I just got an email from Saint Louis University with the subject "Graduate Admissions Update". If you applied early, by December 15th, they would let you know by January 15th! Expecting to find an decision, I opened the email to see that they had inclement weather and had to push back the adcom meeting. Now they will be letting early decision people know by the 25th. Inclement Weather Shellacked!
  10. I love when research involves watching/ reading content typically seen as non-academic. When I was revising my undergrad thesis for applications I watched Brokeback Mountain and God's Own Country many times. Opening up our critical mind to sources outside of journals and scholarly books is so fun and rewarding!
  11. I've been trying to mostly read "fun" (non-academic) books in this waiting period, but I was gifted a copy of Nicole Seymour's "Bad Environmentalism" and have been tearing through it. Any other ecocrit/ queer theory people that have read it???
  12. @Sav I am going to pm you soon about Mississippi!!!!!
  13. @kendalldinniene I am applying straight from undergrad, but am applying to a mixture of MA and PhD programs. I reckon that if I get into one of these selective PhD programs, great. If not, I have the opportunity to earn an MA and strength myself as an applicant and scholar. I will be hearing from my first program in less than a week and my boots are shakin!!!!!!!
  14. Hey all, I am Early Modern with a focus on Queer Theory and Ecocriticism. I applied to a mixture of MA and PhD programs (6 and 4).
  15. Hi all!! I finally decided to create an account after browsing often over the past week weeks. I finished submitting all of my applications this past week (mixture of MA and PhD programs)!!!!!!!!! I thought it would be a huge relief to have it all in, but now I am even more anxious than before! Trying to focus on pleasure reading, hiking, and cooking to pass the next months. Look forward to hearing about everyone's results and journeys!
