When you thought that the midnight rejection from UCLA was ruthless and then USC windmill slams a rejection at 3 am! Haha

Just declined my offers at UC Santa Cruz (Literature) and University of Pittsburgh. My subfield is postcolonial studies. Hopefully there'll be some movements at those places!

Just got accepted into the MA program at UIC. Only the second year is (potentially) funded, so it's not ideal, but at least it's something!

Can anyone claim the UC Berkeley acceptance on the board? I'm really curious as to how they're doing things this year... They rejected a handful, and now today one person has been accepted but it seems all else is quiet? Just wondering if this is one of those slow-moving, nonsensical scenarios where they weed through apps at their own pace and maybe don't accept everyone at the same time? (Can you tell I'm trying to rationalize the very small chance that I may still be accepted, because this is my top choice and I'd do almost anything to get in? Ha)
*FWIW: I'm fully expecting a reject because I went there for undergrad and my chances are laughably slim. 

Monday again! All the best everyone! I am feeling unusually nervous and superstitious today--my dreams about rejections are getting to me. Do people tend to be more superstitious when they have a lot to fear? Like reading bad signs in every little thing happening around you?
For those who already have acceptances--oh, to know that you are going to grad school! Hope you have more acceptances soon but an early acceptance is the luckiest thing that can happen to you in this process. If I were to be shutout a second time, even if m recommenders agree to write me letters or I feel like I can improve myself, I won't tread along these lines again--the sheer anxiety of this wait is too much to take on a third time. Most places I have applied to haven't released any decision as yet but I am still dreading a possible shutout. So hard to be optimistic because optimism seems delusional at times, given there are so many people with wonderful stats and writing samples.

I'm also waiting on Boulder and Oregon, seems weird that the latter's decisions have been trickling in so slowly. Adcomms are frustratingly shrouded in mystery. Everyone remember to shut off the computer occasionally and do some self-care! This is an intense time but it's still early in the decisions cycle.

Yes, let's hope it ends well--after all, as many have already said, you need only one acceptance! 
Most programmes I applied to are yet to release their decisions but my heart has been sinking this whole week.

Was worried about Cornell because I was seeing accepts... But got one myself today! Does anyone have any idea what I should talk with professors about over the phone? I feel like I already know all about the program. Maybe I should ask who wants to work with me?

I just got offered admission to University of Oregon via email! I'm so stoked, this was the only school I applied to back in 2020, and I applied in 2021 but they decided not to have an admissions cycle last minute (because of the pandemic). Thanks to the folks in this forum, because tbh I had no idea what I was doing when I first applied haha
